BBC News ^ | 10/27 | BBC

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy is dissolving the Catalan parliament and calling snap local elections after MP's there voted to declare independence.

Mr. Rajoy said the unprecedented imposition of direct rule on Catalonia was essential to 'recover normality'.

He is also firing Catalan leader Carlos Puigdemont and his cabinet.

The crisis began when Catalan leaders held an independence referendum, defying a ruling by the Constitutional Court which had declared it illegal.....

Mr. Rajoy also announced the sacking of the Catalan police chief.

A motion declaring independence was approved with 70 in favor, 10 against, and two abstentions in the 135-seat chamber......

Afterwards thousands took to the streets in Barcelona to celebrate, and Spanish flags were removed from some regional government buildings.

Separatists say the move means they no longer fall under Spanish jurisdiction.

But the Spanish Constitutional Court is likely to declare it illegal, while the EU, the US. the UK, Germany and France all expressed support for Spanish unity.

Meanwhile Spanish prosecutors say they will file charges of "rebellion" against Mr. Puigdemont next week....

The globalists need no borders between nations to move cheap labor across them among other things.

The more separate countries there are with separate laws etc., the more difficult it is for the elite business and banking community to do what they want.

More events are likely to unfold as we move into the early hours of Saturday morning in Spain.

Its the perfect time for crackdowns and police actions.

Nigel Farage has commented on matters in Catalonia seeing anti-democratic actions by Spain backed by the anti-democratic European Union (EUSSR).

He compares this to the Scots voting on independence the other year and said the Catalans should have the same option.

Catalonia extends into France, so France could be impacted as well.

Note how the EU globalists won’t let England (Brexit) out of the EU. Despite the people voting for it. They never voted to join the EU...and yet the vote to get out doesn’t matter.

The EU-Theresa May government do their dance and make their speeches about Brexit implementation, talks etc. but will they lead to any real and meaningful action?

Most politicians from the big political parties in the UK really don’t want Brexit in their hearts.

The people of the UK voted Brexit, the political elites didn’t.

The people in this country too need to get past the words politicians use and look at actions.

We need to elect people who mean it, not people who say it.

Hmmm. Maybe that could happen. One could argue that Spain had no right to cede Northern Catalonia to France in 1659. If France decides to let the area reunite with the rest of Catalonia that would be nice on their part but first the main part of Catalonia has to establish a recognized and sovereign state.

Now we will be how serious the independence movement is. Spain has “dissolved” the regional parliament and “removed” various officials. The rebel response should be that the Catalan parliament continues to meet and all of the officials removed by Madrid continue in their offices with the protection of local police forces and Catalans in the street.. The next move would then be to see if Spain would use force to try and enforce their decrees.

Catalona should take military action against the globalists, beginning with Zuckerberg, Bezos, Google, Ford Foundation etc.

Why don’t these Nations incrementally attack the source of their enemy?? They are a sitting duck to a Nation they attack.

It's hard to imagine this will work out well without bloodshed.

The people of the UK voted Brexit, the political elites didn’t.

About that.

A Leftist colleague of mine (I work at a big university, go figure) told me that surely "those people" are bigots, racists and extremely ignorant, just like Trump voters, and therefore, their votes don't count, and the UK government should just ignore the vote.

And yes, he was serious, and I didn't call you Shirley.

The Catalonians voluntarily disarmed themselves years ago so they have no way to defend themselves if Madrid moves against them. Since mercenary armies got to be so rare having lots of money is no match against people having lots of guns. If it was me and I was in charge in Barcelona I would delete every record and financial transaction, from property taxes to traffic tickets, and let Madrid clean up the mess.

There’s not a small island in the Barcelona harbor with a Spanish fort named “Sumter” is there?

I dunno - there's folks with lots and lots of guns just a jump across the Mediterranean from the Iberian peninsula. Haven't heard from them or their buddies already on-scene in Spain yet.
