Taxi - Harry Chapin
Nina Simone tells a different story with her version. https://youtu.be/rDuy874spGg
love it
Might be your favorites but not mine. The former is a good song, the latter isn't, IMO.
Jim Morrison: (feebly) I’m not dead!
Cart-master: (suprised) What?
Man: Nothing! Here’s your ninepence....
Jim Morrison: I’m not dead!
Cart-master: ‘Ere! ‘E says ‘e’s not dead!
Man: Yes he is.
Jim Morrison: I’m not!
Cart-master: ‘E isn’t?
Man: Well... he will be soon— he’s very ill...
Jim Morrison: I’m getting better!
Man: No you’re not, you’ll be stone dead in a moment.
Cart-master: I can’t take ‘im like that! It’s against regulations!
Jim Morrison: I don’t want to go on the cart....
Man: Oh, don’t be such a baby.
Cart-master: I can’t take ‘im....
Jim Morrison: I feel fine!
Man: Well, do us a favor...
Cart-master: I can’t!
Man: Can you hang around a couple of minutes? He won’t be long...
Cart-master: No, gotta get to Robinson’s, they lost nine today.
Man: Well, when’s your next round?
Cart-master: Thursday.
Jim Morrison: I think I’ll go for a walk....
Man: You’re not fooling anyone, you know—
(to Cart-master) Look, isn’t there something you can do...?
Jim Morrison: I feel happy! I feel happy!
Of all the old dead guys I probably miss Alex Harvey.....

Man was underrated but all over the place
You could definitely see the influence Alex had on Bon Scott.
Well We’re cousins!

That song was written in 1932 by Thomas "Georgia Tom" Dorsey following the death of his wife. Dorsey is the pianist on Deep Moaning Blues by Gertrude "Ma" Rainey and the Tub Jug Washboard Band (1928), which is a much bigger hit in the Internet era than it was when it was originally released.
Lonely in Love....Dan Fogelberg
After reading your post, I looked around a little, and found out that Mr. Dorsey also wrote "Peace In The Valley". If I'm not mistaken, these two clips feature him singing his own famous songs.
"Precious Lord" - Thomas Dorsey
"(There'll Be) Peace In The Valley" - Thomas A. Dorsey with R. H. Harris
A true natural born singer. No one like her.
One I like that won't fit because he also recorded Dang Me and several more novelty Tunes but Little Green Apples by Roger Miller was a touching song.
Everyday by Buddy Holly. It was the song on the flip side of the Peggy Sue 45.
