Man, she sure changed her mind fast! Her lyrics say that he (Jim Reeves) broke their date yesterday, and she found this new guy today, and she's already in his arms! Furthermore, she has already judged this new 1-day guy, and has already determined that this new 1-day guy is much more true and faithful (paraphrasing here) than Jim Reeves! (That is a really quick judgment ability!)

Thanks for that. I have just been introduced to Nat King Cole. Only now in my 60’s have I been able to slow down and absorb the performance of his voice and piano. Ella is sort of new to me as well. Only recently have I been able to really listen to her stylings, instead of thinking “Oh God! More Doctor’s Office or Lawrence Welk music!”
Charlie Chaplins lyrics in that song are fully soul stirring.
He knew exactly of what he wrote. I’ve read biographies about his tough early life.
