Cops cut NFL security in protest of national anthem kneeling at Miami Dolphins game
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/22/17 | Steven Nelson

Florida police officers upset by NFL players kneeling during the national anthem responded by reducing the amount of security Sunday at a Miami Dolphins game.

The number of off-duty officers working the event was about a third less than usual, Dade County Police Benevolent Association President John Rivera told the Miami Herald.

Rather than 400 officers, just 270 were expected to help maintain order as the New York Jets played the home team.

As of Friday, only 175 officers had volunteered to work the game, requiring some officers to be forced into working. Those who worked will be paid overtime.

"This whole movement started against police officers," Rivera told CBS News. "And now it's morphed into disrespecting the flag and the country."

Officers elsewhere in the country have pushed back on players' kneeling protests against police brutality, which began with former San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick kneeling in 2016, before President Trump triggered more widespread protests in September by calling on NFL owners to fire any "son of a bitch" who didn't stand for the national anthem.

Last month, Cleveland police officers refused to hold the American flag during pregame ceremonies due to the controversy.

Rivera said the Florida police opt-out would result in "the minimal amount" of security, "where they feel safe, but I don't think they're going to have the ideal amount."

Good for them.

Shouldn’t have needed too much security, looked like the stadium was nearly 75% empty.

Terrorists, NFL BLM, Antifa Kneelers might be an easy target. The police hate them as well as most citizens. Too bad that likely makes you allies.

That’s ok, I heard the stadium was quite empty.

Less crowd, less police officers needed to maintain the peace.

Hardly.

President Trump and white people. THAT’s what BLM/NFL is “protesting.”

Maybe the NFL could pay BLM and Antifa to provide security at all of their football games, just like the Grateful Dead asked the hell's angles to provide security at one of their concerts.

before President Trump triggered more widespread protests

The press just can't control their hatred, can they?

Were I the POTUS, I’d make a call to the Pentagon with instructions that no military are to participate in the NFL’s November Veteran’s Day events: No flyovers, no Golden Knights, no flag ceremonies, no presentation of the colors....

"...just like the Grateful Dead asked the hell's angles to provide security at one of their concerts. "

That was the Rolling Stones At Altamont.
("Altamont, December 6, 1969, was supposed to mark a glorious end to the Rolling Stones’ US tour. Instead, Hells Angels ran riot.")

If you are thinking about Altamont December 1969...it was the Rolling Stones that had the Hell’s Angels as security. The Grateful Dead did not even play although they were scheduled. Once they heard that Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane had been beat by some Angels, they pulled out. The Dead recorded a song about the whole ordeal titled “New Speedway Boogie.” Just thought I would correct the record. One of the earliest known versions of the song was played December 20th 1969 at the Fillmore in SF.

I remember the movie——”This is Melvin Belli with the Rolling Stones” was a line I always remember——great film.

At the opening of the concert there is a very brief appearance of the Flying Burrito Brothers with Gram Parsons. One only saw the back of Parsons with his Nudie Jacket on. There is a release through Amoeba Records of a live set of the Burrito Brothers during this time frame. In early April 1969, the Dead played out on the Lincoln Hwy...Bear, (George Owsely of the LSD fame(?) was their soundman. He recorded most all Dead sets and rarely recorded opening acts but luckily he recorded the Flying Burrito Brothers that night. It sat in his air conditioned vault for decades until finally it was released. Wonderful set with Parsons in full voice. He only lasted with the band for a short while....it was his own band! But he left it.

Ah...those were the days.

“Ah...those were the days.”

They certainly were, and in retrospect they were positively innocent.

Much of what passes for music today is vulgar garbage-——and life,in general, has become much darker.

Sad !

The NFL/BLM “protests” pedated Trump’s Presidency by a good margin. The movement started because millions of idiots were brainwashed into believing the lie that blacks have long been unfairly targeted by white cops and whites in general.
