**Yes...this is a vanity*** On behalf of all of us here at Equifax, I want to express my sincere apology to you and anyone affected by our recent data breach. I can assure you that our number one priority going forward is taking care of you and giving you better control over access to your Equifax credit report.
We realize that you likely enrolled in TrustedID Premier reluctantly, and unfortunately it may not have been an easy process. At first we were not fully prepared for the volume of calls, visits to our website and emails received in response to the breach.
This is changing right now.
We have rapidly hired and trained more customer care agents and invested in our infrastructure to make sure that your experience with us moving forward is fast, easy and reliable. That is our pledge and my personal commitment to you.
I encourage you to review the information about your TrustedID Premier product below, and log in today to familiarize yourself with its features. We will provide you with additional information over the coming weeks to help you get the most out of your product and help you better protect your identity.
While it is under extremely unfortunate circumstances, we are glad you signed up for TrustedID Premier, and I promise to keep you updated on our progress making it the best it can be. We are grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate that we care about you, that we are committed to earning your trust and that we will continue to work with you to help better protect your personal information.
Sincerely,
Paulino R. Barros, Jr.

I just had my identity stolen mid September. My mail was forwarded to out of State and a checking account and credit card opened in my name with 6,000 in charges. I do not know where to start!!!
Since the breach, I’ve received innumerable fraud calls trying to “verify my information,” and they have everything. The only “protection” I have is that Lifelock alerts me when something hinky is going on. Anyone without protection it’s really a matter of when not if.
Call Lifelock. They can help, even if the bad guys have started.
Equifax will be out of business in less than a year. They’ve completely destroyed any trust, and millions of people are likely going to suffer some form of identity theft.
What really fries me is that they have the gall to ask that we pay to freeze our credit.
Regards,
So, Equifax hires a music teacher for IT security. They get hacked and vaguely know about it for months until essentially all of their data (ours) is stolen.
While Equifax is not charging for credit freezes (gee, thanks) all the other major reporting credit reporting agencies are. I think I spent $60 to freeze my spouse's and my credit. It's another $10 (each!) anytime you want or need to thaw your credit, if for example, you are seeking a mortgage or want some other credit.
You are right, Equifax will be out of business very soon. And they should be. How there are currently no civil or criminal charges against this company and its board and executives is beyond me.
Back around six years ago, they offered me the chance to freeze my account for nothing, and gave me a pin. Fine I thought. So this year, a loan application came up and the bank reminded me of this freeze. I used the pin....nope, they decided the pin option was no valid, and to unfreeze it...I needed to pay a fee. I grumbled about this but had no choice.
Equifax will be dragged into court. I think they’ve probably got about three years before all the court action hits maximum turbo, and get wiped out.
There was a reason the officers of the company sold tons of stock before going public. They knew it was just a matter of time. IMO, this is trading on insider info and they should all be in the slammer.
I’d like to read this but I’ll need the last four digits of our social and your mother’s maiden name to continue...
Guess which company is providing LifeLock with a special deal?
One guess only.
Exactly right.
After this mess I was going to sign up for LifeLock until I found out their partner is Equifax. No need to sign up fore them to be involved in protecting my credit.
For something I never agreed to be a part of this has sure invaded my privacy and caused lots of problems.
I went to an oral surgeon yesterday for a consult and amongst all the forms is a line for my SSN. I just left it blank.
They need to blame global climate change.
Everybody else does.
I strongly suspect that the same companies which sell you virus protection hire hackers to create new viruses, so they can sell you the prevention or cure for those too.
