Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran is continuing to grapple with a urinary tract infection that has delayed a planned return to Washington, his office announced on Monday.

The GOP veteran, 79, has been absent from Washington for a month. Cochran’s chief of staff, Brad White, made the announcement in a statement issued by Cochran’s office.

White said Cochran’s wife told him late Saturday that the infection had returned. His office had said last week that Cochran would return to work on Monday. […]

Cochran’s health has been the subject of speculation in Washington, fueled by his extended absence and tweets by Trump, who at one point mistakenly said Cochran was hospitalized. …

So many antibiotics are now useless to treat UTIs. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2122891-utis-could-soon-be-life-threatening-without-new-antibiotics/

Always knew when dad had an infection. His memory DID slip and he wasn’t coherent
If very serious at his age damage can lead to dialysis and renal failure.

Just remember, Ted Cruz gave them the money they used to smear Chris McDaniel with, as head of the NSRC.

You are insinuating that Cruz had something to do with those racist ads they used to steal the election from McDaniel.

I do not believe that. My recollection is that Mitch McConnell was part of the organization that sent the money to pay for those ads, and it was Haley Barbour's cousin or nephew or something that did it.

As a bladder cancer patient I have my share of cystoscopies, and now that I am in remission I still get one annually. Those things are no fun at all.

Just retire already. The MS governor is an "R", so the replacement won't change the math.

UTIs, especially in older people, can affect the mind, balance, etc. Often they don’t present with symptoms typical to “normal” UTIs. Very dangerous, in many ways.

I guess when you’re a senator or congressman, your entire health history becomes public information.
I don’t think we had ‘the need to know’ about his UTI.

“Just remember, Ted Cruz gave them the money they used to smear Chris McDaniel with, as head of the NSRC.”

You won’t make many friends here. They seem to think that Cruz ‘apologized’ for his Convention behavior by sending out a tweet a month later saying that Republicans should ‘vote the ticket’. And Cruz STILL has not taken back the FAKE CONSERVATIVE line he used on Trump in Jan 2016.

Sorry, but it is true. Ted Cruz was the head of the NRSC when they sent the money to MS to bribe black Democrats to vote for Cochran and smear McDaniel as a racist.
