Satellite images of rural towns, sprawling woodlands and grooved mountainsides fill the computer screens as homeowners and students scroll across digital maps... With President Donald Trump threatening to pull emergency responders from Puerto Rico, major universities around the nation are stepping in to help aid organizations better supply aid through open-source mapping which will allow organizations to pinpoint people in need and better allocate aid.

Exactly, never mind the local corrupt politicians who were picking and choosing who would get any aid. That only after the military took over the task of delivering it because the corrupt unions would not lift a finger to help.
About time others get involved and not wait for government to do it all.
Drones are capable of creating real time topographic maps. Let’s move to the 21st century.
If they can help, more power to them. Seems like technology the government could/should use.
Exactly why that island is a total failure, is 70 billion in debt,
and one of the reasons it should never be given statehood. It's people and government are crooked and corrupt beyond belief.
When the president states that he cannot authorize an indefinite military occupation of Puerto Rico it is not a “threat”
These were the people who cheered the shutdown of Roosevelt Roads Naval Base so that Vieques could become a bird sanctuary
I believe there are some awesome beaches open to the public. Time to close them. Let them swim in the swamp with the mayor.
Drones are perfect for this situation...and in real time.
“It’s people and government are crooked and corrupt beyond belief.”
They’re DEMOCRATS for cryin’ out loud. What are we to expect!?
I think I read somewhere they are using air drops to
locations that are isolated because of road damage, etc.
What do you expect first responders to do, stay there for years?
Home of the infamous Al Sharpton "heavy soup" starvation diet.
NBC IS FAKE NEWS.
While the majority of the “men” of PR are sitting around playing with their weewees and leveraging the “crisis” for the Teamsters, 4 military vets are using their own vehicles and delivering aid to backwater locations ... for free and unasked.
Meanwhile in San Juan, Comrade “Whiny B!tch” Mayor “Lucy” Cruz is standing in front of pallets of aid (again - slow learning dimwit) crowing that Trump is killing her peons.
Anyone who lives that far out in the boonies never depended upon the neighborhood grocery much less the mall. Aside from emergency medical care, they've probably gone back to normal.
We keep hearing about what percent doesn't have water and electricity. Funny, nowhere can I find what percent had water and electricity BEFORE the hurricane.
This is from a week ago, Oct. 6 - "9.2 percent of the island now has power and 54.2 percent of residents have access to drinking water" And 1400 workers - https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/10/05/fema-removes-statistics-about-drinking-water-access-and-electricity-in-puerto-rico-from-website/?utm_term=.53002b248798
Two days ago, 16% has electricity, 64% have water and 53% have cell service - http://abcnews.go.com/US/16-percent-puerto-rico-power-weeks-hurricane-maria/story?id=50417366
That's a great improvement but the lying msm and the PR corrupt gov. are on a pity tour. Imagine how much further along they'd be if the unions and regular folk would get off their butts and help a bit. Saw an interview last night of people sitting on their front porch complaining and they still hadn't cleaned up their yard.
Trump had to send in the army to deliver the goods. Not sure if that station is on the public payroll if it is cite what was done here to cut them off.
