NAPA (CBS SF) — Wind-whipped wildfires roared to life Sunday night and early Monday across Wine Country, burning building, forcing evacuations and injuring several people.

The Atlas Peak fire was the largest of several wildfires, quickly growing to more than 200 acres near Napa. Meanwhile, the fire near Calistoga had burned several building and sent several people to the hospital to be treated for burns.

Cal Fire said firefighters were battling several blazes in Sonoma County. The largest was in the area of Porter Creek Road and Petrified Forest Road near Calistoga where mandatory evacuations were ordered for residents along Porter Creek, Petrified Forest, Franz Valley and Mountain Home Ranch Rd.

Early Monday morning, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department said fires had erupted at Mark West Springs and Riebli roads in Santa Rosa, at Shiloh and Conde roads in Windsor and at Highway 116 and Fredericks Road in Sebastopol.

The fires had stretched Sonoma and Napa counties firefighting resources to the breaking point. A call for mutual aid was issued to other Bay Area fire departments.

Crazy. It’s like two dozen Gatlinburg fires from last year scattered over 1/2 that state.

You know, that is exactly what it is like, and given that fact, I am surprised that there has not been more national coverage!

He took this opportunity to make more noise about climate change.

Just like all thise anti gun people after a mass shooting who jump in front of a camera before the bodies even get cold.

Unbelievable.

I just talked to my niece, she going to get some rest and hope that things remain OK. The Santa Rosa Fire Update FB page is good, people helping people, sharing needs and info, getting clothing and stuff to evacuees. Everyone is fearful of the wind tonight though. Many report that police are going door to door reminding all to be ready to leave if things go south. What a wretched few days.

Our Canyon 2 Fire here in Orange County was big enough and we were very lucky. But these fires going on up in NorCal are unbelievable. 72 hours now and the fires are growing larger. The fronts are merging.

You asked about Petaloma...Hope sister is still ok...This is what pbear8 posted #386:

My friend left downtown Sonoma a couple of hours ago. They say that Petaluma issued a caution for people to be alert and consider getting things ready due to the high winds.

Jerry Brown is an absolute disgrace and a leftard idiot. There’s a reason he’s called Governor Moonbeam.

If it weren’t for FEMA and other states coming to California’s rescue, he’d have everything mucked up ten times over. Don’t worry, just give him a day or two and he’ll start blaming President Trump for the wild fires.

That’s because the “most important” story is about Weinstein the Rapist/Perv. Such are the priorities of the Fake News Media.

The weather had been forecast to improve on Monday—lower winds and more humidity—that apparently had not continued :(

Thoughts and prayers for all our Freepers, their families and friends in harm’s way!

Shame they cannot focus NEWS that’s truly important because this is affecting people and lives are at stake :(

As Rebelbase posted...This is shaping up to be like 2 dozen Gatlinburg fires...

I know both areas fairly well—the poster is correct.

And what do you call your Senators McCain and Flake? You are responsible for them according to your line of thinking. I guess you voted for them, because you live in AZ.

Great job, Arizona. Which happens to be a state I love, but your comments are out of bounds. If we in CA who are conservative are responsible for our reps YOU ARE TOO in Arizona.

Let’s take this a step further: “WE” as Americans voted Obama in to office twice, so “WE” all deserve this kind of sh^t, even though you, me, and likely no one else here did either.

For crying out loud. Peoples’ lives and homes are being destroyed, but you’re stuck on blame/callous mode.

Take a minute, maybe five, and just imagine what these people are going through, talk to God. I’ve read this thread and can’t believe you don’t see what you are doing.

You need to direct your anger at your worthless governor, he’s idiot bringing up global warming at a time like this.

You blame CA for Brown, you get blamed for McCain and Flake. I'll never defend Brown. So, what is your explanation for McCain and Flake? I love Arizona, and have spent a lot of time there.

Hillary Clinton also took this tragedy as an opportunity to bash Trump as not carring and only tweeting and to push her global warming agenda...(this article did not have the Trump bash, but others on Twitter did).
