CBS SF Bay Area News ^ | 10/08/2017 | CBS Staff

NAPA (CBS SF) — Wind-whipped wildfires roared to life Sunday night and early Monday across Wine Country, burning building, forcing evacuations and injuring several people.

The Atlas Peak fire was the largest of several wildfires, quickly growing to more than 200 acres near Napa. Meanwhile, the fire near Calistoga had burned several building and sent several people to the hospital to be treated for burns.

Cal Fire said firefighters were battling several blazes in Sonoma County. The largest was in the area of Porter Creek Road and Petrified Forest Road near Calistoga where mandatory evacuations were ordered for residents along Porter Creek, Petrified Forest, Franz Valley and Mountain Home Ranch Rd.

Early Monday morning, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department said fires had erupted at Mark West Springs and Riebli roads in Santa Rosa, at Shiloh and Conde roads in Windsor and at Highway 116 and Fredericks Road in Sebastopol.

The fires had stretched Sonoma and Napa counties firefighting resources to the breaking point. A call for mutual aid was issued to other Bay Area fire departments.

Who are you anyway, the Thought Police?

“Third warning” ooooooo I’m so scared.......

Not a warning...a request...

Wow...You are just plain rude...disrupting this thread...Others have asked...

Not thought police...I have asked you to please go to one of the hundreds of other threads on FR and you insist on posting here...

Why is that you insist on this thread of all threads? You are not adding any helpful information...You are not going to change minds...

Just stubborn? Bitter? Troll?

Please just go start your own thread and bash away elsewhere.

Another fire caused by downed Power lines in the area of the Wall Fire earlier this summer. Anotehr fire in lower Paradise on Honey Run. More evacuations, SKYWAY Blvd closures. Wind seems calm according the the Mrs. Will it pick up tonight...I have to check. Lots of smoke in the air of course. Looks like out fire is southof us and moving north and east toward Rackerby—Good for us, bad for the folks in Rackery. Still no word on how Bangor fared. Fire fighters supposedly abandoned the four corners area last night and set up their HQ at the grange up the street from us. Things were overwhelming. Fires crossing roads everywhere, folks had to get up and go...like now. Loma Rica got hit pretty bad in Yuba County. These are not towns, or cities, but settlements/areas. A lot of that out here. We live in one such settlement, which I won’t mention bu someone could figure it out I suppose.

Anyway, that’s the report at the moment.

“there are hundreds of threads you can post on on FR...yet you and one other seem to feel compelled to continue posting here...where your views are clearly not appreciated....

Why is that????”

Precisely because you decided to embrace your inner authoritarian and insist on silencing me for reasonably voicing my legitimate feelings and views.

That’s why.

Several historic structures are gone. Place is never going to be the same.

That is sad. Beautiful country—I have made 2 trips there in last 3 years, glad I did.

Not to diminish the tragedy, but it seems that they always up the superlatives when it comes to these wildfires in CA. I thought they had the worst of it a year ago before the rains came back?

FYI: I was born in Los Angeles and moved to Sacramento when I was fourteen. I only moved away after I was married.

So it would be a little self-defeating of me to ‘bash Californians’ since I am a native Californian.

A fire truck is a good place to store water in case the well goes out. Plus I’m sure we’d help any neighbor who had a fire. In the 22 years I’ve been here (I have a small farm), there have been a handful of bad fires not far from me, a couple of times when they were harvesting wheat.

Sigh...its tough playing with maroons....having dealt with silly people all year long, it would be nice to come to FR and not have the same silliness. Personally, I don;t rain on your parade and wish you would kindly go march to your own drum in a circle somewhere away from here. In other words, don’t be a ding dong. Go feed your cats or something. Enjoy a book, watch Sponge Bob Squarepants or something...

Has a right to express opinions on FR, just wish he would do it on another thread...

RooRoobird20's first post (#29) has been removed. If the post is inherently problematic, a thread based on it may not last long.

Besides, it's obvious that such people do "care," as they care enough to post. If any of you readers want to prove your apathy, don't post, and just let this thread follow its natural course.

Stop attempting to control the comments. If you put up a thread, ya better expect comments you don’t agree with or dislike. It’s goes with the territory.

Regardless, from what I am reading, this one is a bad one...50,000 w/o power, 20,000+ evac’d and expanding, 65,000 and growing acres in flames, over 1500 homes gone.

I was quoting what was said by those covering it on TV...now the numbers seem to support.

My kid who is a very conservative and politically active noncucked Proud Boy who’s actually been active in the free speech protests in Berkeley (on the right side) is standing by to evacuate and his business has gone up in flames. He’s a former ambulance driver and is probably helping out the war zone scene all around him. And not asking anyone’s political opinion before doing so, either. Why hate people on the basis of where they reside?

Would someone please fill me in, since it’s not readily apparent by the news sources, but what exactly is burning?

Is this grasslands? Forests? Scrub? Fresh tar?

Right and let’s remember California voted AGAINST welfare for illegal aliens (and were told it was unconstitutional by the Courts) and AGAINST homosexual marriage (and were told it was unconstitutional by the courts).

We have abysmally bad governors and legislators who are destroying the courts but that’s likely because we have illegal aliens voting and being given sanctuary

AGAINST OUR WILL

I can’t apologize for our horrible voting in all instances just pointing out that real Californians have been largely disenfranchised.

Even 10% of San Francisco voted for Trump, and that’s when no one thought he could possibly win. I think he has 15% support even in San Francisco, really.
