Did The Vegas Shooter Use A Fully Automatic Weapon?
hot air ^ | 10-2-17

Posted on 10/02/2017 8:58:36 AM PDT by doug from upland

Opinion is divided this morning on Twitter among people who, unlike me, know more than the most basic basics about firearms. It’s not a matter of mere curiosity; as you (should) know, fully automatic weapons have been illegal in the U.S. for decades, which is why even mass shooters hellbent on murder unto death never use them. If Stephen Paddock used a machine gun, how on earth did he get it?

Exactly right. I can do a mag change in less than half a second, and so can ANY practiced competitive shooter.

People who live in slave states and in Democrat big cities have no experience with truly competent shooters, and no experience with guns themselves, so they have no idea what is possible. When they find out, they want to take our guns away.

I am not going to stand for it this time. If it takes war to stop it, let it come in my time, that my children may be free.

Understood. I'm not arguing the lethality of the event. I'm arguing that these were select fire weapons and not bump-fired.

Perhaps, but I don't think that your argument is valid. You don't need to aim very well to hit random people in a crowd of 22,000 people who cannot easily or quickly disperse.

I posted on Twitter a question: did the shooter get inside help from the hotel clean staff to get all those weapons into the hotel room?

Good question. That many guns and that much ammo, along with tripods (as I’ve heard) and drum mags would take up a lot of room and take awhile to setup.

- How long was this lunatic in his room setting up? If maid service entered the room, they would have likely noticed something was amiss. Either there would be a *lot* of bagged gear or a *lot* of guns in the room.

- How did this lunatic transport all this gear up to the room. It would have filled one of those bellhop trolleys and if a bellhop assisted, he might notice the bags were awful heavy on solid.

I don’t know for sure because I have heard only one audio replay, but the rapidity of the reports, it sounded full auto.

Then add the amount of casualties, the amount of ammo expended and it adds to the conclusion.

Think about it, if you have been on the range and fired that many rounds, your finger would be hurting with a semiautomatic weapon.

“No way you could get off 400 rounds otherwise.”

Not counting but estimating about 50 rounds in 12 seconds.

I personally knew a 15-year-old kid who could shoot a <2" group with an AR-15 at 800 YARDS. He was a competitive High Power shooter. I myself can hold a <8" group with my rack-grade AR-15 at 300 yards.

People just have no experience with guns, and don't personally know any people who do.

All the weapons in his room..plus the planning, cameras to tell where the police were....tells me this guy intended a stand off with the police...otherwise why so many weapons?

I though that would have been the case to prevent what I mentioned from occurring. I’d like to think the design in this fashion for the AR15 was intentional for that purpose as well of course to not allow for the 3 round burst

My question is, how did he get all of that into the hotel? Do places like this allow people to bring in guns, have no detection/security system etc. ?

This is exactly why MGM and maybe the concert promoter will be sued in perpetuity over this event and why there may never be another concert in view of a high rise hotel. Heck, they may start x-raying luggage when you check into hotels with high pedestrian foot traffic within shooting distance, which is almost any hotel along the Strip.

Sounded like a belt fed M60 or other squad automatic weapon (SAW). It took him 30 seconds in between firing to reload the weapon as a possibility. This means he did not have the belts linked together. He would fire a few hundred rounds and load another belt. A picture of a bullet hole in a metal building was not from a 5.56 round. It was large and appeared to be from a 7.62 (.30 caliber) round. Could also have been a 7.62x54R Russian PKM 200 round belt fed weapon.

This man was pure evil. How do you stop such evil other than through prayer and help from God?

Slide fire/ bump fire stocks with a batch of loaded mags/ drums would get that amount of rounds off-I ‘think’ that is what he used. Inaccuracy of bump fire is no problem if you have 20k plus people standing in mass in a crowd... Obviously this was planned for awhile with accumulation of firearms, ammo, practice, renting of room, getting arms and ammo into room, etc etc. The companion, girlfriend, wife, and other regular contacts should have noticed weird behaviors. His ‘motive’ if ever truly admitted will be telling-maybe he was nothing other than insane... Medications, political philosophy, social media info, medical history, etc etc will be informative also. Prayers for the victims and their families are extended.

If the LVMPD reveal that the shooting had a LOT of weapons in the room, then they really need to ask how did the shooter manage to get all the weaponry into the room without rousing suspicion of the hotel bellhop or cleaning staff? The management at the Mandalay Bay resort have a LOT of disturbing questions that need answering.

If someone keeps rolling trolley after trolley of gear up to a room, a bellhop is naturally going to come over to assist.

So many unanswered question of this lunatic.

It could be true. An AK with wooden furniture can put out quite a bit of smoke if overheated (there are even videos of them catching fire). I assume other wood stocked rifles will do same if a high enough rate of fire is maintained.
