NFL broadcasters hint at JAW-DROPPING solution for anthem protests
Allen B. West ^ | 30 September 2017

Like an offensive coordinator attempting to find the right way to break through a defensive line, the NFL has called for a number of plays in its efforts to accommodate both their players who feel compelled to protest during the national anthem and their increasingly angry fans.

These efforts have ranged from having the players stand together with locked arms during the anthem, to keeping players in the locker room until the anthem is over, and even to having the team kneel before – rather than during – the anthem’s playing. However, none of these tactics have been completely successful, as NFL TV ratings continue to be sacked by viewers who are throwing a penalty flag at the protestors.

Now, according to the Charlotte Observer, the NFL may be ready to call a new play in advance of Sunday’s Patriots-Panthers game. And it’s a bit of a Hail Mary.

While it’s uncertain if Carolina Panthers players plan protests during the national anthem during Sunday’s game at New England, there is a chance that television viewers won’t get to see them as they happen.

In other words, if it offends too many people to either stand for the national anthem or see people NOT standing for the anthem, let’s simply not broadcast it at all.

Eric Shanks, the president of Fox Sports, told Newsday’s Neil Best earlier this week that his crews plan to return to “standard procedure” this week for NFL broadcasts. That doesn’t include showing the national anthem live for most games because the network normally airs commercials then.

Shanks left the option open, however.

“So I think we’re going to pay attention to events,” Shanks told Newsday. “… A lot of time is happening between now and then.”

This is a typical chamber of commerce BS non-decision designed to please everyone without taking a stand on anything.

Sickening.

Meanwhile, the NBA is telling its players to stand and its owners to show a video lecture about race or whatever before the anthem.

They already don’t show views of half-empty stadiums. Now they are going to control exactly what you see and are not allowed to see. Staged event. Wonder if they will select the particular camera angles for replays or even tweak them just a bit so as to control the game narratives? Where would they draw the scripted event line?

You don’t cheer for people who hate you. The masks are off and it’s over.

Exactly. Also, since much of the hatred is based on debunked leftist lies, the kneeling players look like idiots. You don't cheer for smug, patronizing idiots.

So many? In week 1 it was 10 players. And if you’re watching the game then you invited them in.

If they kneel and the press embargo’s it, the press will get a black eye too. What, they think fans don’t have cell cameras and social media?

I’m pretty sure having their protest rendered completely anonymous by giving it no coverage or time isn’t actually what they want.

I’ve only actually seen the Greenbay arm linking. I never pay attention to the pre-game stuff, not when they didn’t show the anthem, and not when they do.

I’m starting to get the sense that the NFL’s problem is much bigger than having to deal with the protesting players and the fan reaction. It may just be that, like an overvalued stock market, the NFL is in for a market correction. Look-it — they’ve tinkered with the rules for years. They’ve collective-bargained contact in practice to practically zilch to prevent player injuries (when the effect is exactly opposite). Now they have a ‘concussion crisis’ which means that the league is convinced that they need to reduce the hitting in the league even further. Oh, and somebody has gotten into his head that the League, with all it’s problems, needs to go international with franchises in (perhaps) London and Mexico City.

They are absolutely killing this game in a dozen ways. And into all this a few radicalized players are killing the carefully crafted marketing image of the league. A crackup was coming, we just couldn’t see the proximate cause — now we are focused too much on it to the exclusion of the other problems. The game has been turning into a glitzy version of flag-football for years. The fans were loosely attached to begin with.

That’s week 2, AFTER it got blown into a major deal by Trump. Week 1 it was 10 players across the entire league. Last year it peaked at about 2 dozen and by mid-Octobers it was Kaepernick and one of his teammates. It WAS a couple.

I’ll take a wild guess, you’re hooked on outrage and you ain’t about to kick the habit even though until last Friday this was a complete non-event. How close am I?

Regardless of whether the teams begin to act responsibly during the anthem, I doubt many of the lost fans will return. Their feelings are hurt & their patriotism insulted.

Can you imagine a furious fan, who burned their NFL memorabilia, is gonna come back to the game just because the teams all of a sudden behave respectfully? I doubt it. These people have acted in a treasonous manner. A simple “never mind” or apology wont satisfy anyone.

Substitute behavior such a knneling before the anthem or locking arms will fail to satisfy furious fans. Any behavior, other than the required posture, will be seen as further insult.

To the players themselves: You have lost your fan base, you are the Dixie Chicks of the NFL. Many of us despise you now, while others just pity you. Either way, the fans wont be coming back, wont be watching the games, don’t want you in their homes or lives. You have committed financial suicide & it couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch.

Even if the entire NFL got down on their knees & begged for forgiveness, there will be a few who refuse to apologize & will continue to act badly during the anthem & the game. These people hate America & think the rules don’t apply to them.

Probably the only way the NFL can get back the fans is by firing a bunch of these anarchists, & severely punishing whole teams, PUBLICLY. Knowing the cowardly leftists running the NFL, they’ll never do it.

The NFL is DONE, stick a fork in it.

I didn't get past this first sentence in the article:

Like an offensive coordinator attempting to find the right way to break through a defensive line, the NFL has called for a number of plays in its efforts to accommodate both their players who feel compelled to protest during the national anthem and their increasingly angry fans.

The players!!!!!?????

Tell the players they will be docked a weeks pay if they do anything but stand and listen quietly to the National Anthem.

In the end that will be the solution. The NFL can certainly delay that day for a bit until they tire of losing customers. But they cannot avoid it.

How do you stop 350 charging NFL players? hold up an American flag!
Why are athe Pittsburgh Steelers moving to Knoxville? The heard they have a Neyland(pronounced kneeling )stadium!

I’ve got a compromise solution. Substitute the Confederate flag for old glory. ...maybe then they will stop desecrating it!

I think they should replace the anthem with Benny Hill music because that is more fitting for the clowns that are on the field.

I guess one can say we had our own ‘contract’ with the NFL. As long as they kept to football and showed minimal respect for the country when on the field, they could pretty much do what they wanted off of the field.

They broke that ‘contract’, so now it’s over.
