‘Communism Will Win’: U.S. Army Infantry Officer Posts Message In Support of Kaepernick
Mediaite ^ | 25 Sep 2017 | Colin Kalmbacher

As the discourse rolls on regarding former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick‘s decision to take a knee during the national anthem–and the movement his protest ignited–support for the blacklisted athlete-cum-activist is sprouting up across the country.

Yesterday afternoon, on Twitter, some of that support came from U.S. Army Infantry Officer and U.S. Military Academy at West Point alumnus, Spenser Rapone.

Rapone posts under the handle @punkproletarian and is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Under the hashtag #VeteransForKaepernick, he tweeted an image of himself raising the left clenched-fist of solidarity, support and resistance as well as the message, “Communism Will Win” taped inside of his West Point uniform cap. Also visible in the photograph is Rapone’s Combat Infantryman Badge–meaning he has fought in active ground combat.

Rapone followed up his initial post with retweeted images of other #VeteransForKaepernick in their combat uniforms.

LawNewz verified the legitimacy of the photograph with Rapone himself. He is currently in the field until Friday and unable to answer detailed questions, but a Medium post authored by the Infantry Officer details some of his views. He wrote, following the murder of socialist Heather Heyer during the Charlottesville neo-Nazi rallies:

The toppling of the Confederate Soldiers Memorial in Durham, North Carolina has sounded the death knell for any and all displays of Confederate aggrandizement in the United States as well as abroad. Yet, the shadow of the Confederacy and its efforts to preserve slavery is not limited to the southern United States.

“I remember when communists were kept out of the military.”

What the HELL have happened to our standards? Maybe I’m not

remembering correctly but I seem to remember being asked if I was a

member or wanted to be a member of the communist party before

I signed my life over to the US NAVY.

Sporting a CIB ? Seems very fraggable if he really joins a unit in combat as a platoon leader or such. What do they do ? Fly these newbie greenies to Afghan and truck them to an area where they can get fired at so they can sport some salad on their uniform? He’d look great lined up with the norks and medals all down his leg.

You can be as old as 23 and still be eligible to enter the Academy as a plebe. Plenty of time for a 17 or 18-y.o. enlistee to see combat during the Obama years, apply for the Academy via the US Military Academy Preparatory School during that time, and get in before his 23rd year.

I really hope this is a big put-on. But right now, it’s looking pretty real to me!

Is there a site or page we can go to that explains his prank?

No, all you have to do is read the article that says he is in the field and can't take questions then look at the second picture that shows him with combat medals.

Once you have done that, then ask yourself how many active West Point Cadets are currently seeing action or have seen military action during their tenure at West Point? Then wonder why he is only a three striper with various medals on his chest while in the company of his superior cadets who have absolutely none.........Geeze!

WEST POINT MILITARY CADETS DO NOT SEE ACTION UNTIL AFTER GRADUATION!

That’s too good. If I say what I want to say, I’d be booted.

This guy deserves to be hung. Straight up hung from the neck til dead.

The rest I won’t say.

If this jackass is a military officer he has, at the very least a Confidential security clearance (the lowest level of security clearance) which should be revoked immediately.

"Military guidelines state that troops may attend demonstrations only in the United States, only when they are off base and off duty, and, most critically, only when they are out of uniform.": Active duty military told no uniforms in protests. West point takes prior service. They wear their prior service medals.

I personally checked the 2016 Howitzer and posted the quote under his picture that is inline with his communist views. I was there at the 2016 graduation where it threatened to rain so they handed out the see-thru bags, so I knew to look in the 2016 Howitzer. It’s not fake.

“I see friendly fire in this POS’s future.”

I doubt it. He strikes me as seeking his 15 minutes of fame by way of a less-than-honorable discharge scandal.

I once worked with an Air Force captain - academy grad who at least he claimed to be a avowed anarchist. He did not believe in countries. I told him that was an unusual viewpoint for USAF Captain, I said ‘I am sure it got you talked about.’ he replied, ‘It did!’. I asked why he went to the Air Force Academy if that was his viewpoint. His answer was, ‘It was free.’ I bet his career didn’t go much past Captain. After the project we were on was over I never saw him again. He was a strange guy. So I guess it takes all kinds to make a world and U Armed Services.
