A K-9 unit intercepted $237,576 in cash during a traffic stop on U.S. 59 on Thursday, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office reports.

A mother from Mission, Texas, and four children were in the SUV at the time of the stop. All five people were released at the scene, but an investigation is pending. The mother could be charged with money laundering, the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The vehicle, heading south through Rosenberg, was stopped for a traffic violation by a member of the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force's interdiction team.

The money was discovered during a roadside investigation, the sheriff's office said.

Hmmmm? No names. What are the odds that at least one of the kids is an anchor baby or a dreamer?

That’s funny...Is that really her car? How dumb would one have to be to not at least TRY to hide it? AND be extra careful with driving so as not to get stopped? Pretty stupid!

With 4 kids, I’m sorry - she’ll need the $237,000....

It is money laundering to carry the cash? Or are they assuming because there is so much?

“The vehicle, heading south through Rosenberg, was stopped for a traffic violation by a member of the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force’s interdiction team.” That vehicle was under surveillance and the “traffic violation” was a pretext for stopping the vehicle.

Probably drug money. It’s more probable that it was an illegal search, whether the dog “alerted” (wink wink) or not.

The money probably WAS hidden.

The cops like to spread out money, drugs, guns and then take these stupid posed pictures.

No she won't. The cartel bosses will bail her out of jail and then make her watch as they dismember her children in front of her before putting her out of her misery.

That'll be their way of sending a message to the next courier to not be so careless.

You really don’t think she was stopped for a simple traffic violation do you? She was fingered and a dime dropped on her, they already knew she had that cash in the car, the dog was just a formality to give them cause for a search.

"It is money laundering to carry the cash?"

More than likely indicated drug residue. That's probably what triggered the dog.
If she had a 237K banknote or cashiers check it would have been OK.

💸. Forfieture says "Bye bye!". Even if it's legally hers, she may have a hard time getting it back. It used to be done in the Daytona area pretty regular.

Stopped by Narcotics for a traffic violation?

From watching too much 'Live PD' I'd say she made an illegal lane change, had expired registration or was driving a bit too fast.

Traffic cop pulls her over and gets suspicious and asks her if he can have a dog come out and look at the car.

Knowing she's not carrying any drugs, she consents and says "Si." and then the dog 'alerts' on the money.

Someone works in Narcotics and knows how the game is played. You or your source are spot on. She and the children were dead when they started tailing her.
