Russian submarines fire cruise missiles at Islamic state in Syria

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Russian Navy on Thursday fired seven cruise missiles at Islamic state targets in the suburbs of Syria’s Deir al-Zor, the Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
It said the missiles were fired from two submarines in the eastern Mediterranean from a distance of 500-670 kilometers (727 miles).

We are in a era with technology that allows anyone to instantly check the veracity of a claim or figure... People are proud. Their gadgets try to correct them. And we wind up with casually-produced "writing" with errors introduced by both authors and their digital assistants.

“500 KM would be 310 statute miles, 270 nautical miles give or take. No way can I figure out how they get from 500 KM to 727 miles. Reuters seems to be mathematically challenged.”
We have 4 younger relatives in jobs where they have to use basic math everyday to ensure proper outcomes and safety. They also hire and fire employees, who work under them.
They feel that any liberal, who is from their 20’s to early 50’s are not only mathematically challenged, they are unable to do basic math.

500 to 670 km is 311 to 416 miles.
