Miami’s mayor on Hurricane Irma: ‘If this isn’t climate change, I don’t know what is’

Miami’s Republican mayor called on President Donald Trump and the head of the Environmental Protection Agency Friday to acknowledge that climate change is playing a role in the extreme weather that has slammed his city and the continental U.S. this summer.
Speaking from Miami’s Emergency Operations Center in downtown, where the city’s senior public safety and political authorities will ride out Category 4 Hurricane Irma this weekend, Mayor Tomás Regalado told the Miami Herald that he believes warming and rising seas are threatening South Florida’s immediate and long-term future.
“This is the time to talk about climate change. This is the time that the president and the EPA and whoever makes decisions needs to talk about climate change,” said Regalado, who flew back to Miami from Argentina Friday morning to be in the city during the storm. “If this isn’t climate change, I don’t know what is. This is a truly, truly poster child for what is to come.”

While I agree that the “climate change” harpies are using this year as their poster child to prove their point.....Hurricane Ike was a pretty intense storm that caused a lot of damage in 2008.

Hurricanes of equal fury have been hitting Florida since before there where grass shacks on Miami beach. How long has it been since a major hurricane struck Florida...at least a decade. Hardly proof that phony climate change had any connection

Poor slop doesn’t pay much attention to history. But then...what would you expect from a politician who makes his living by bullshitting people.
There is no doubt that there is climate change. That big block of ice at the northeastern end of the North American continent isn’t called GREENLAND for nothing......and that was even before the first SUV was ever made. However, Climate Change, formerly more properly called Global Warming, has less to do with mankind than the natural order of nature. If mankind is responsible for the Hurricanes in Florida, or Texas because of “carbon emissions”, than the people in the Pacific Northwest must be living carbon emission free because they NEVER have hurricanes.............NUTS.
