I question the sanity of anyone who chooses to live below sea level.

Trump is a master at getting things done.

Right now....his problem is people like McCain....Congress in General.....and the media....bless them.

How much of Katrina was truly a failure at the federal level, and how much was a media/liberal creation of a narrative, that Bush was to blame??

Bush declared a federal disaster even before Katrina hit.

The fact that local officials are the key people in charge when a disaster hits was lost in the media/liberal narrative that Bush was uncaring and inept and all that.

I couldn’t believe the left could politicize a hurricane when Katrina hit. Yet they did.

Maybe part of what we’re seeing is that the left saw that they couldn’t successfully politicize this hurricane, so they chose not to make that effort.

GWB, much as I am not a fan, was set up by the democrat governors ..who would not sign off to allow Fed funding to happen emediately.
Although, unlike Bush..Trump would not put up with that kind of crap.
He would have certainly called the Governors out.

It also reminds us, ONCE AGAIN, of what poor handlers Dubya had.

Aw c’mon, good article. But how could you leave out Kanye West’s line: “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”

A big difference was that Bush was working with a democrat governor and Trump gets to work with a Republican governor.

A second big difference is that the media can’t control the message as well these days.

The media and the left mercilessly destroyed GWBush over Katrina. They have turned “Katrina” into a meme that means “GWBush hates Blacks.”
The media and the left were listening to every word from Trump’s mouth, and monitoring his every action. He did nothing wrong, but nevertheless the f*ckfaces said he had no empathy.
To a lefty, this means that Trump should have SAID warm, comforting words like “I feel so deeply for the people who have died. I really have empathy for them, bla bla bla.”
Instead he went to work to help them! Words mean nothing! Actions do!
F*ck the left.

Texas/Trump didn’t have a thoroughly incompetent governor and mayor of one of their largest cities to contend with. Add in that Bush was a lightweight with regard to fighting back at the media narrative.

The lesson of Karina is, if you are a Republican, get out in front of the story. Do not allow the media dictate the narrative.

It is telling the best they (the MSM) could do was be critical of the first ladies shoes.

#1 Lesson from Katrina:

The media will never let a crisis go to waste.

They will spin and misrepresent every crisis in order to damage a republican president as much as possible.

Even if it causes more physical damage and harm to the victims.

They do not want to see success if the credit goes to the republican president.

Nothing to do with Katrina. Trump knows how to get things done....but he has to personally assess something....which is why I believe he went down so early.

Trump and his people are doing a great job! But that said, the REAL reason Houston is better off and will continue to be, is because of the people that live there. They took initiative to save others, they helped their neighbors and will do so as we move forward.

Instead of sitting around on their butts waiting for the federal government, Texas and the people of Houston got to work.

The author misses the point that Trump would have fought back against any media or Democrat smears. That’s why the Left could only talk about Melania’s high heels.

Donald Trump learned the news media lied and lied and blamed George Bush when they knew full well it was the democrats over decades who did not repair or upgrade any of the infrastructure but instead looted the money for it.

Some background on why so many were stranded.

Popular Mechanics had an article (now lost) that explained the myths (lies) Lucky that the American Thinker site still has excerpts.

GWB allowed the establishment media to utterly destroy him. He never put up much of a fight, always playing by "Queensbury rules" and thinking it was better to take the high road and ignore his critics. He thought that he was being "presidential."

GWB always wanted to be liked by the establishment and respected by Democrats. The very people who savaged him while he was in power and reduced his presidency to a laughingstock. Of course they are "nice" to him now that he is out of office and not a threat. Just like they are nice to other RINOS like McCain, Romney and Dole now that they aren't running for president. But when they were running for president, they were ridiculed and attacked.

Donald Trump has broken the mold of Republicans being "nice guys" and pushovers. The Left just doesn't know how to handle it.

Lesson one from Katrina: put someone competent in charge of FEMA. And the President certainly did that.

I lived the thorough Katrina on the MS Gulf Coast and had no power to see this famous detached picture. In fact I don’t recall ever seeing it. I didn’t even find the government response that bad. Course I didn’t live in democrap run NO.
