People not only don't want to consider that the solution requires a change in culture and religious attitudes because they are hard and long-term, but because many elite Dems see Christianity as being stupid and part of the problem. They hate Christianity because it says that they are accountable to God for their behavior. Their ego is so huge that they don't want to even consider that it may be true, so they try to banish it from society. And our culture and society are in the process of reaping the horrific consequences of their actions.

It failed and should have not had a chance to succeed. It is illegal, even if a law allows it. (That law is invalid and therefore not binding.)

Tyranny of Low Expectations.

The ghetto culture holds people back. Little focus on education. Little focus on getting a job. Little focus on stable families. Little respect for rule of law. Little avoidance of impulsive/violent behavior. Little self control.

Until the culture changes there is no hope. And it is changeable. It’s just culture. You’re not born with it.

But giving food to people, giving shelter, giving education, giving jobs, giving health care — all of this Government Charity (and Affirmative Action is very much part of this) all of that “do-gooder” stuff removes any incentive to adopt a better culture.

And the result is stagnation.
Immigrants come to this country with no money, no language, nothing. And in no time at all they surpass African Americans. Because the new immigrants mostly avoid the ghetto culture.

Geez, who could have guessed that hiring someone LESS QUALIFIED for a job would have negative effects?

The effort should have been towards making sure your desired benefit group became more qualified- not dumbing down everything else to accommodate them.

That’s the “soft bigotry of lowered expectations” that Rush always talks about.

I don’t think enrollment should be the yardstick for success. Instead measure results. How many AA beneficiaries graduate? How many graduate with a useful degree (i.e., not a totally worthless “studies” degree or a degree in community organizing)? How many went on to productive careers that allowed them to become useful members of society? How many got licensed in their chosen professions? How many had their licenses revoked for incompetence or were censured by their profession? How often do they change jobs? How often were they fired for incompetence? How do their stats measure up to others in the profession?

Affirmative Action is, by definition, discrimination against one or more particular groups of people.

If those groups are racially defined, then Affirmative Action is racist discrimination.

You can’t solve a debt problem with more debt.

< Dems see Christianity as being stupid and part of the problem. They hate Christianity because it says that they are accountable to God for their behavior. >
Usually the left smugly proclaims the G-D is dead and Jesus is an "imaginary friend" whose father is a nonexistent "invisible sky daddy". But when it comes to leftist clergy supporting there pet causes, suddenly Jesus is a cool dude. It's nothing new, it goes back to the days when clergy participated in the anti war and anti nuke movements (Father Phillip Berrigan, among others). I remember some coalition of liberal priests insinuating that any Catholic who works in the defense industry will end up in hell if they don't quit their jobs and repent. Of course this was around the time when the priest abuse scandal was still simmering below the surface, just sayin'.

“After decades of affirmative action”

Also, it’s been 50 years since forced integration and mandated bussing. That was also going to be a panacea. Instead, parents are afraid to send their children to government schools to be beaten, turned into a druggie, or to become pregnant, all the while getting less than a third world education.

It’s hard to fight against nature, even if hundreds of social-engineering bureaucrats in the Dist. of Corruption know better than you what to do with your kids.

What’s the four-point plan for building a marriage culture in neighborhoods where kids may grow up without knowing a single person who lives in an intact home?

This isn't rocket science. Apply some common sense empiricism. What worked in minority communities until the mid 60s? What changed in the mid-60s that made intact, Christian minority families fall apart?

All we need is a one-point plan: shut down almost all federal welfare programs and use local faith based charities. It took us three generations to reach the current bottom. It'll take three generations to get things back to normal with intact families, working fathers, and a value placed on education and hard work.

Can this ever happen? Not unless the Democrat party is outlawed as a racist institution and forcibly disbanded.

America is becoming a nation of welfare whores because we reward single parent households.

We need to gut the income tax code, starting with earned income credits....poof gone!

Yes. This is what many of us have been saying for years. What the Left so easily decry as “racism”, purely to leverage political power, is actually a rejection of the Black culture. Not the same. Racism is a belief that one race is intrinsically superior to another, or that one is intrinsically inferior to another.

The family unit with the Black culture is fundamentally nonexistent. And today, Black pop cultural elites such as comedians, musicians, and others all either laugh at the tragic state of nonexistent Black families, or suggest only Whites have families, or “it’s a Black thang”.

By and large, it isn’t racism, it is a rejection of this fatherless Black culture which quite predictably has created a ruthless, brutal, and yes, feral culture that kills each other with no after thought, and murders and steals, and commits mayhem because they are now inbreed with cultural wanton violence.

My heart breaks. I weep that there are no godly Black men who stand up and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and reject this sin corrupted cultural mores. I am not talking about the famous Black TV evangelists who covet fame and fortune all while their Black brethren suffer and die in a desolate culture and then perish into a dark eternity.

It isn’t racism to reject a brutal, violent, and anti-social culture. Now, as we all know and understand, not all Blacks support this, and many desperately want out or a change, but without Black men of faith standing up against this dreadful scourge of sin with the Black community there is very little to hope for.

I pray to God that He raises up Black men and women of faith to lead and bring the Black community back to a relationship with their Creator.

If affirmative action won votes for career politicians, then in that context it didn’t fail.
