LOOK: Susan Sarandon joins more than 1,000 at Kaepernick rally at NFL offices

The fury surrounding the employment status of Colin Kaepernick has been taken to a new level, reaching full-blown froth on Wednesday night in the form of a rally at NFL headquarters attended by thousands to protest Kaepernick being unsigned by a team.

[Snip]

According to Tim Rohan of TheMMQB.com, the group of activists who organized the rally -- The People's Consortium for Human and Civil Rights, led by president Reverend Stephen Green -- had three demands of the NFL.

  1. That the NFL institute a policy to protect players' rights to have freedom of speech, so they can kneel, raise a fist or express opinions on social issues, if they wish.

  2. That the NFL establish a review board to, Green says, "examine issues of social injustice." As Tamika Mallory, a social activist and co-organizer of the 2017 Women's March, put it in her speech, "The NFL, just like the NYPD, cannot police itself. Any organization that is only being looked at from within is a failing organization. There must be a unit of people internally and externally that look at racial and cultural sensitivity issues within the NFL."

  3. And that the NFL develop some sort of program to "reinvest into the communities in which they serve, where there are high rates of unemployment, high rates of mass incarceration. To re-invest those funds into the community," Green says.

Typically speaking, the noise surrounding an issue like this dies out once the games start being played. But this is not a typical situation: Kap doesn't have a job, which means with each week that passes and each horrific quarterback performance that we watch unfold, the noise could get louder.

These people are too stupid to understand, but if any team were willing to take a chance on Kap, and given his play it would be a big chance, this will cause them to back off. Who wants to have this kind of idiocy around their team when every NFL team is already under a microscope?

Have any of the advocates for Mr. Kaepernick said who they think should be fired and who should have their salary cut to make room for him. Teams can only have a certain number of players on the team and they must keep their payroll within specified limits. Have any of the active players advocating for him expressed a willingness to give up their slot or their salary to make room for him? Without his other baggage, a 30 year old 7 year veteran backup quarterback on the downside of his career cost a team almost twice as much as a rookie with future potential doing the same job.

My prediction is that as we approach July of 2018, and he hasn’t signed with a club...he’s finished.

So far, he was offered one single contract....back-up quarter back for the minimum they can pay for one year. He refused....rumor has it that his girlfriend says he can do better on the deals.

I think what you will see is the guy ending up as a state representative in the California House, and working his way to some Senator job in a dozen years. Beyond that...his NFL period is finished, I suspect.

I think his career is over if he goes through 2017 and hasn't taken a snap for an NFL team for the entire season.

This is actually where he stood in 2016, which is why he agreed to re-negotiate the terms of his contract so the 49ers would not have to pay the remainder of his contract in the event of an injury. He knew that he would have no value to an NFL team in 2017 unless he got onto the field in real game situations to demonstrate that he could still play.

You have totally identified the problem people like CK have when behaving poorly. The NFL teams are NOT A PUBLIC ENITY. They are a private business that is run for profit.

What these protesters are demanding is the owners take actions that will (not “could”) result in that business closing - going bankrupt.

That’s right bankrupt - closed doors - everyone involved in the business suffers. Ask your friends what happens when their company, the one that pays them, closes the doors. No paycheck, no ability to pay your bills, no ability to take care of your family.

BL - which is worse one person paying for his stupidity or 100 people paying for his stupidity?

K isn’t playing because he can’t compete. If he was more skilled he’d be signed.

FYI... good summary

Someone might as well play the loser even though he sucks. The other preachy, self-righteous little social justice warriors are sitting on the sorry cracks again which will lead to even more people turning the National Fairy League off. Talk about cutting your nose off despite your face...

After last years awful season the only thing he’s good for is as a backup. But nobody is playing his system anymore and I suspect he won’t accept backup money anyway.

Maybe she should screw him like she screwed baseball players in the movie.

Or remind him how to throw a football, he’d get a job then.

Has there ever been so much banter over such an >AT BEST AVERAGE< athelete?

You damn well know >IF< Craperdikk could somewhat consistently win NFL games, he’d never be out of work.

BTW, have any CFL teams contacted him? If not, there’s your bonafide proof that he totally sucks, because if he had a shred of talent, he’d have a chance to play, if not outright start.

Or is he too proud to play in Canada? He’s “better” than Warren Moon? Doug Flutie? Joe Theisman?

GFY, Craperdikk.
