So all things considered, the minimum level of troops to prevent the Taliban from expanding into more territory.
Nations go to Afghanistan to die.
Which of his kids are signing up to go?
Neocons.
Trump needs to ditch them.
Not privy to the intelligence that surrounds such moves, I can tell you that I initially trust Trump’s judgment MUCH more than that of Bush who seemed to mindlessly shoot from the hip and had ulterior, politically-correct motives in much of what he did.
Afghanistan will never be a happy place.
No way trump says how many troops.
It’s a move that will see our presence prolonged and not to win.
My definition of win is a defeated nation totally unable and unwilling to again cause trouble for the USA.
Pakistan has been a big problem, they created the Taliban that came to power in Afghanistan and made it the safe haven for Al Qaeda.
George W postured tough after 9/11 but Pakistan got a pass in the end.
Its insane to have the ‘supply line’ going through Pakistan as well.
The other route is the Eastern Europe-Central Asia one.
I’m not going to be diverted by this from the need for the POTUS to get things squared away back home.
I think that’s why many of us voted for him, to address matters related to this country first.
The Deep State wants war - Afghanistan is an unwinnable black hole (ask the British, Russians), we need to get out NOW.
Mexico and Central American parasite-states are the real enemy to America.

I'm of the opinion that it does not matter a gnat's arse whether the Taliban expands or not. I could not care less. Kill as many Afghan's as we can on the way out — "good" or "bad". Kill them. Kill them all.
We should have been out of there yesterday.
I cannot imagine a single thing 4000 more troops will accomplish. This is idiotic and McMaster and Mattis BS.
I’m not an isolationist nor a niave peacenik and certainly don’t believe in appeasing Islam. Still, I’m not convinced Afghanistan is worth fighting for - is there anything much to be won there? Natural resources, of course. When, if ever, will we know we’ve won? What will be the signs , signals, evidence of our victory? Again, just asking. Not trying to be argumentative. Just asking. I’d rather see our fine military take over Saudi Arabia and the little gulf outfits and kick the damned islamonazi dictators out of there —.this could do USA and everybody a lot more good as long as we’re sending troops to Asia we may as well defeat our most dangerous enemies first
McMaster wanted a surge of 50,000 more troops.

50,000 more troops? How many combat ready divisions does the US army have to throw into that meat grinder?
Burn the opium fields, salt the earth, and I’m totally down for it.
Never going to happen.
Most of the hawk generals wanted at least 10,000.
More doable, but unlikely.
Bannon and the Blackwater founder Erik Prince had an idea of sending in thousands of contractors.
Prohibitively expensive.
If this really is the plan (1 x Brigade Combat Team), then I'm really underwhelmed. We've been there 15 years. What do they need these guys there for? To "train Afghani soldiers"? What the hell else have we been doing for 15 years? How does a single BCT make this a clearly winnable fight suddenly?
Color me highly unimpressed.
I just wan to know what’s the exit strategy? And when?
Quick! Send Auntie Fa over there to fight alongside the Taliban against this egregious imperialism!
