Charlottesville Is Not about the Forces of Good vs. the Forces of Evil
American Thinker.com ^ | August 19, 2017 | Abraham H. Miller

If President Trump called out each right-wing bigot that invaded Charlottesville, it would not be enough. Some obsessive Trump antagonist standing behind the arc of Klieg lights while holding a microphone would find that somehow, somewhere, he had left out something.

If there is anything we can agree on, say liberal pundits, it is that fascism is evil, and Trump should have rushed to condemn them after the vehicular assault on demonstrators.

James Fields, the alleged perpetrator of the vehicular assault in Charleston, is identified as a white nationalist but belonged to no group. Moreover, he seems to be mentally ill.

The Army discharged Fields after a few months in a manner that bespeaks mental problems -- but let’s not raise that issue. It will prevent us from feeling sanctimonious about condemning the right.

We most certainly would not want to put Fields in the same category as Major Nidal Hassan, He committed that act of workplace violence at Fort Hood, slaughtering fellow soldiers while shouting “Allahu Akbar.”

When former attorney general Eric Holder jumped into the discussion of the Charlottesville vehicular killing, calling it terrorism, he was summarily mocked for his contrasting depiction of Hassan as merely a perpetrator of workplace violence. The hypocrisy was palpable.

Of course, nearly everyone wants Trump to condemn only the right. Far be it for us to examine the politics of the left.

If we think of fascism as a system of authoritarian rule, the suppression of basic liberties, a belief system organized around hatred for the “other” and the inevitability and glory of war (or violence) as a solution to political problems, there were a lot of candidates for the label in the streets of Charlottesville. Some of them were most definitely from the left.

Actually it is, but both God and the devil are in the details.

Traditional treatment of the Civil War might just HAVE been too cavalier.

In fact, I think at least a poetic case can be made that the Civil War has smoldered on in colder form since America’s pro forma reuniting. The face of that does look more like Charlottesville than like the Dukes of Hazzard, a show that was widely enjoyed by North and South alike and the worst thing that happened was the frustration of some Sheriff of Nottingham style cops.

What the law can’t put back together, however, love still can. The love that comes from God and by God.

Disagree. Charlottesville Is MOST CERTAINLY about the Forces of Good vs. the Forces of Evil. The Right had a permit for their demonstration which was about keeping the statue of R.E.Lee. The Left, in usual manner with no permit to be on the street, began illegally and started the attack on the demonstrators.

If you don't think this culture war for the soul of America is a battle between the forces of good and evil, between the forces of light and darkness, you're kidding yourself. This is what it is ALL about. Goes all the way back 4000 years ago in Genesis 15 & 21 when the son of the bondwoman (the flesh - Ishmael) attacked and persecuted the son of the free (the spirit - Isaac). "As he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the spirit, so it is today" (Galatians 4:29).

I am still unsure about how genuinely conservative Unite the Right is.

Elsewhere on FR it was claimed that its leader had only recently overtly switched to conservative.

Lee’s statue seems an odd hill to die on. How did that rocket to the next item’s up on UTR’s agenda? The controversy to benefit ratio seems outsize for this.

Let’s be circumspect yet. That’s in the Bible too.

Abraham Miller can KMsouthernA. Just because people are pizzed off that a bunch of left wing activists want to destroy their southern heritage does not make them evil or white supremists. We have every legal right to protest.

I don’t really care how how genuinely conservative Unite the Right is.

I don’t have to be circumspect to go after the AntiFa-and-Co. Delusional Lying Leftist thugs who illegally attacked these folks and almost certainly were hired and sent by Soros and Co. to attack the demonstrators who were legal and had a permit.

That among other things is a direct violation of these demonstrators’ free speech. These thugs ought to be arrested, charged and jailed for assault, battery and disturbing the peace. You don’t have to be circumspect about that. While you’re calculating the controversy to benefit ratio, the Delusional Lying Leftist thug tyrants are off to the next place they can attack the Right.

This is a fight my FRiend and it’s time to fight back with all you’ve got. For too long the Right has rolled over and played dead while calculating the controversy to benefit ratio. Time to fight for freedom regardless of any ratio.

Yes you do have to be circumspect always.

A false flag UTR would be a satanic ploy to get you into a battle that you are unready for.

Look, if you are illegally attacked without provocation especially with imminent threat of bodily harm, you don’t sit down and figure out how to be circumspect - you defend yourself and fight back, Bro.

Well you might want to lam it out of there rather than be so cocksure about who your supposed friends to defend are. It’s sad if every street Kabuki theater gets your hair on fire.

But we’re not talking about street Kabuki theater are we?

We’re talking about an ongoing, vicious, criminal assault on the Right by Leftist thugs like AntiFa. I don’t know anything about this Unite the Right and it is irrelevant who they are. What is relevant is they were there legally and were attacked by a vicious mob of Delusional Lying Leftists who were illegally there.

This is about self defense pure and simple and that includes defending others who are criminally attacked regardless if you think they are your friends. You don’t have to sit down and do the math to do that.

You’re on the wrong page on this one my FRiend.

>> “ I don’t know anything about this Unite the Right and it is irrelevant who they are.” <<

No, it is very relevant who they are.

It is also relevant ‘Why they are.’

There is no violent racist component on the right, and the Fake News left deeply need for one to exist, so they have created one for their Fake news circus.

I don’t disagree.

Maybe a better way to have put it is if Unite the Right is a true right wing org, then it heightens the whole egregious attacking-Leftist scenario.

But even if they are a questionable right wing organization as HiTech RedNeck infers, it is irrelevant in the context of criminal attacks upon them by the Left.

No argument on that point, but this is the “New Reality” we have seen, and we absolutely need to be prepared to deal with it on a visible national front, not just on FR.
