The great-great-grandsons of Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson said the monument to the legendary Confederate general and others in Virginia's capital city were constructed as symbols of white supremacy and should be taken down.
They added: 'While we are not ashamed of our great great grandfather, we are ashamed to benefit from white supremacy while our black family and friends suffer. We are ashamed of the monument.'

Not their call.
If I were the great-great grandson of Stonewall Jackson, I would call myself Stonewall just so people would ask if I was related.
Where are these boys mama I am sure she would slap some sense into them....maybe this is another lie
How tarnish? They say they're not ashamed of their ancestor.
Moral degeneracy and indecency? There were many people in history that you might be uncomfortable being descended from, does that make you indecent or a degenerate?
I don't share their sentiments (shame at the monument, guilt over white privilege), but Stonewall Jackson was a convinced Christian and maybe he would.
Maybe he wouldn't have wanted statues of himself put up in the same way that many war heroes don't like to talk about their experiences.
The monuments usually weren't put up by the people they depict.
Sometimes it was those who never saw action who were most devoted to the myths.
I have driven Monument Avenue hundreds of times and I still am in awe.
When the statues are gone and they rename it Martin Luther King Blvd, I will never return.
(I have brought many people here to see that and the battlefields, that will stop)
My Great-great-grandfather was wounded at the first battle of Manassas (Bull Run to you Yankees) and later died of his wounds. Two of his brother in-laws, my grandmothers grand uncles rode for General Nathan Bedford Forest and survived the war after each having horses shot from under them twice. I am proud of these men who stood and fought for what they believed which was not to protect slavery or slave owners, but to protect their freedom. You can debate that all you want and most people in this country don’t have family that lived and died on both sides and still claim an aggrieved status. I am not ashamed of my family history and neither are many of my cousins including one who is buried on Guam with his fellow Marines and others who have bleed and died for this country. Those who are offended are simply trying to press their left wing agenda at any cost.
Oooh, oooh, oooh - look at me! Look at me!
"Stonewall" has a different meaning now, so you might get some unwanted attention.
And if you wanted a career in broadcasting, you might just call yourself "Stone."
This guy, no relation to Jackson, seems to have scrubbed the Internet of almost all mention that his birth name was "Stonewall."
They will change their tune once the left turns their attention to purging the descendants of prominent confederate.
Ha! Well, I would add Jackson to it just to be safe!
While we are not ashamed of our great great grandfather, we are ashamed to benefit from white supremacy while our black family and friends suffer. We are ashamed of the monument.’
LOL....So these pandering fairies are “not ashamed of GGGF” but of his “monument”? Yeah, that makes sense. Why not be “ashamed” of him too? He’s the one that advocated for the Confederacy and killed “the other side” you know, “The Good Side”?
These liberal-shit college instructors are not worthy to spit-shine their ancestor’s boots!!!!
Yankees and Yankified Southerners are not aware of the role of New England ship captains in the slave trade!!!!
And African American demonstrators who are screaming for the end of Confederate monuments are not aware of the role of West African tribes in selling war captives as slaves to the very same New England ship captains!!!!
Its high time for some REAL history lessons, followed by mutual repentance and the end of social-justice-warrior attempts to falsify and erase American history!!!!
Shame

Do you know what stopped the Salem Witch hunt/trials?
When they accused the Governors wife of being a witch. The Governor then said (and I paraphrase) "that will be enough of that nonsense."
;-)
The only people who can decide if the statue can be taken down are the people who currently control the land it is on, be that local, state or federal government through the RULE OF LAW.
Not a mob.
and take away anything you inherited
One immediate problem with this headline comes to mind. Lieutenant General (CSA) Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson died childless.
