By all means make them pay to replace it.
By all means beat them to a bloody pulp while the crime was in progress.
They won't pay a penny. They'll be treated as heroes and some celebrity with deep pockets will pay any fine incurred. The statue will never be replaced.
They will receive one (1) hour of community correction, lecturing local grade school children on the evils of Trump & conservatives, and their fellow deadheads will praise them as martyrs.
I agree they should pay for the damage they caused. These statues cost thousands/tens of thousands of dollars. What is destroying property that is valued that much called? If they were stealing it, it would be called grand theft, but what is damage in that amount called? Plus, those statues are over 100 years old. The anarchists can’t repair that.
