DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews said Tuesday his office will seek charges against protestors who pulled down a Confederate statue outside the old courthouse Monday evening.
In a statement, Sheriff Andrews said he was grateful that no one was hurt and that county leaders decided to act with restraint towards the demonstrators.
"Collectively, we decided that restraint and public safety would be our priority. As the Sheriff, I am not blind to the offensive conduct of some demonstrators nor will I ignore their criminal conduct. With the help of video captured at the scene, my investigators are working to identify those responsible for the removal and vandalism of the statue," he said.

Last I heard they swore to Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States. There is probably more but I can’t recall it at this time.
Open and shut case. Prosecute them all to fullest extent.

You can bet that if that statue had fallen on one of those snowflakes and crushed them to death, there would have been a lawsuit against cops and the city for not protecting them.

If they were stealing it, it would be called grand theft, but what is damage in that amount called? Plus, those statues are over 100 years old. The anarchists can’t repair that”
They are destroying more than a physical thing. They are destroying the heart, soul and heritage of the country.And the law stands around sucking their thumbs.

I don’t believe that total inaction in the face of violent leftists is really promoting public safety.
The media/press were called to allow them to get on site to film the activity. The cops knew about what was going on too.
I doubt nothing will happen here as their court appointed public defenders will argue that the cops had the opportunity to intervene, but basically gave the ok.

So the new policy is for police to let crimes happen in front of their noses and then try to catch the perps later? Meanwhile the damage is done and the statue is irreparably destroyed and will never be replaced. The America haters win and set a precedent for this type of action across the country. Perhaps some bold capitalist will destroy the stupid statue of the girl near the bull on Wall st.

What if the liberal mob burned down the Court House because they disagreed with a decision?

Stop the mob - stop the thugs - stop the Democrat Party.
In other words, they stood down and let the rabble destroy public property. That's not "restraint". That's craven pc cowardice.
The Governor, mayor and the Leos are all on the side of the fascist protestors and other than a few low dollar tickets nothing will be done and the statue will not be replaced. The only way to stop this violence is when these scumbags are met with greater violence.
So we have another local police force stand-down. But if you know Durham NC it makes perfect sense.

Durham, N.C. – Durham County Sheriff Mike Andrews has issued a statement in response to the demonstration that resulted in the vandalism of a Confederate statute on public property owned and maintained by the Durham County Government.
Once the lights of publicity are off them, the sheriff and the liberal judges will let them go with probation or even less of a punishment.
