BERKELEY (CBS SF) — A worker at a Berkeley hot dog chain has lost his job after being outed on social media as being one of the Charlottesville white supremacist protesters.
A poster at Berkeley’s Top Dog said that Cole White — who was identified on Twitter — no longer works at the restaurant. White had been a cook at the fast-food restaurant.
I find it more than a little odd that some fast-food cook from a dive in Berkeley, CA would travel all the way to Virginia for an alleged "right-wing nationalist" demonstration.
Why would anyone go from Berkeley to Charlottesville for this protest — especially someone with the budget of a hot dog cart employee?
Clearly, he’s a PAID PROTESTER.
“It’s not a First Amendment issue,” she said. “Remember, that only protects you from actions by the government based on your speech. It doesn't’t protect you from actions by your private employer. It’s also probably not a discrimination issue, because going to a rally like this, participating like this, doesn't’t make you a member of a protected class.”
That's right an employer can fire someone for speech or associations they don't like. But how long will it take before anyone expressing an opinion that the left doesn't like getting fired destroys free speech and freedom of association? Unfortunately we may find out.

How does someone who works at a food cart afford to go to a political event across he country?
The left has been blacklisting conservatives for years in Hollywood.

His right to free speech and association was infringed by the gov’t? He was arrested for simply being at the event? Or did a private business simply fire an employee?

I’m pretty sure there’s a California labor law prohibiting the firing of an employee for engaging in political activity. It was passed during the Vietnam era, mainly to protect teachers who were being let go for participating in anti-war activities ...

If everyone in America has to live in fear of losing their job for expressing non liberal opinions are we still a country where speech is free? No we are not. The left is using a loophole to kill free speech and freedom of assocation.

Uh, Charlottesville is quite the nice area, and I believe, what used to be the jewel in the UVA system.
There is no more thorough blacklisting and McCarthyism than that employed by the Hollywood left. Hollywood has made bank on exploiting McCarthy in film and yet it is very commonly well understood that Conservatives are aggressively blacklisted.
