On Oct. 11, 2015, @DRUDGE went dark. Gone was the profile picture (dark sunglasses, cowboy hat), expelled was the playful header image of two parrots preening. All that remained was a black square and a black header and the capital letters that bellowed his name: MATT DRUDGE.
Just days earlier, the reclusive and powerful founder of the Drudge Report had appeared on Alex Jones' InfoWars program, although "appeared" might be too generous. Despite Jones' pleading, Drudge refused to actually come on camera for the interview. Eventually, Jones' team convinced Drudge to speak into a microphone just out of the frame, even as Jones complained that no one would believe Drudge was actually there.
The resulting 45-minute interview is oddly similar to reading a Twitter thread a faceless voice filibustering from offscreen although Drudge insisted to Jones, "I don't do the socials." Then he corrected himself: "I've got that little Twitter thing, even that's kind of disgusting."

I have never understood why Drudge gets so much notoriety. He does zero except to link to other stories & coverage from other sources. So what? He is the Cliffs Notes of journalism with no original content.
I think his site is messy and hard to follow....I dont bother
Drudge and Sessions are on vacation together...
...apparently on a remote island somewhere.
“He is the Cliffs Notes of journalism with no original content.”
He fits the low-attention span zeigeist. Giving the people what they want.
Drudge led me to Free Republic in 1998. Before Lewinsky-gate really caught on, I think it was Drudge who first started to stir the pot on that story. I heard about Drudge and Lewinsky when I heard Rush say that he always read the Drudge Report. Among the many links at Drudge was one for "Whitewater". This was a link to Free Republic which used to have a "Whitewater" forum to discuss the high crimes and misdemeanors of the Clintons. I have scarcely looked at Drudge's site since then.
The candy counter of news.
Nutrition is not on the label.
Too many links to paywalls.
Drudge was pro Trump early on.
Now he is weird and mysterious.
Same here.
Drudge is still steering the news cycle.
And he’s advising Trump - or at least advising the Trump team.
Unlike some here, I do not think he is souring on Trump.
It's a gay thing.
That’s pretty much it. He does little in the way of political content and is mostly a link to the content of the drive-by media. His choices of those links can sometimes drive a narrative. But other than that, not much else.
A whole lot of people over the years have sometimes had strong doubts about drudge but never me:
the part that’s extremely puzzling for me is that drudge has completely ignored the Awan Brothers story.
for me that’s shocking the mysterious I don’t understand it.
Maybe drudge was threatened in a very credible way..?
I assume so because it’s not like him to be cowardly.
Nonsense. Drudge is beyond such pettiness.
This is just a guess, but I think he and Coulter were sort of tag-teaming their displeasure at Trump because he was ignoring their advice on the border wall... ? Also possibly who Trump was picking for his cabinet... I think all that animosity (if you want to call it that) has waned because they are making strides, logistically and finally, on the border wall.
But the gay thing.. forget it.. President Trump isn’t anti-gay and Drudge might not even be gay. Nobody knows that, nor should anyone care because it’s not applicable. Even if he was gay, he’s still Matt Drudge, and is still running the same Drudge Report (20 years !) So I’d say he’s got bigger fish to fry....
I like the new look on Drudge Report and love the Walter Winchell quote.
Just a thought.... Could Drudge be in the middle of transition to womanhood?
Could explain his change on Trump and why he is staying off camera.
Back b4 the days of Internet, about the only stuff that smacked at all of truth/non-pc was advertised in the classifides in back of the old SpotLight Newspapers; then I found an old geezer name of Stillwell (the 70s) in San Diego who held classes @ a public park, and he reproduced OP old mimeographed underground articles and sold them in the parking lot outta the trunk of his car.
He later ran up all his credit cards and got a spot on public TV, called it Let’s Educate!
I meant to write he provides little in the way of original content instead of political content.
Personally, too easy to get lost there. The constant refreshing of his home page (while on the that page) turned me off completely. DH still visits, but now Drudge comments are only seen here at FR by these two eyes.
Because Drudge is nearly 100% responsible for the Monica Lewinsky story seeing the light of day, which probably kept her alive AND let to Bill Clinton’s impeachment.
The left hates him for this.
Drudge is probably responsible for FreeRepublic’s initial success too.
