Health Care: Now they tell us. After spending months pumping out stories about how great ObamaCare is, the news media are now admitting that, lo and behold, ObamaCare is unsustainable. What's changed?
On Saturday, The New York Times ran a big story that began this way: "Republicans have failed to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Now, can it be repaired?"
Repaired?
Up until last week, the Times had been reassuring its readers that ObamaCare was doing just fine. In an April story, for example, it said that "growing evidence suggests that the markets are far from collapse. Several recent analyses argue that this year's increase was a market correction, and that a smoother market would follow in the years ahead."
It added that "many insurers had been struggling to make money but now seem closer to breaking even."
Another Times article from a few months back quoted Gary Claxton, a vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation, saying that "things are getting better."
In fact, we were told that the only reason the ObamaCare markets were struggling now was because Republican repeal threats were creating "uncertainty."
Now the Times is telling readers that "even people who rely on its coverage agree that it still has big problems."

I thought that it was interesting that as soon as Trump talked about removing special privileges for Congress and staff re healthcare, that the congress started to scream about tax cuts.
It’s like they want to change the subject!
At this time next year the enemedia will be campaigning for Dem candidates in the mid-terms, and the rallying cry will be that Trump DIDN’T repeal ObamaCare...
California 2018 rates will come out today. If it’s kept at a moderate rise (say 5-percent)...things might continue on for another year. I noticed that Minn said their rates will be near the 2017 level (no harsh rise).
Not sure who will get the blame for this.. R ran on the repeal theme.. that worked out well...not. Yes the Dims created it but the R control the gov...
Almost 1325 counties will only have 1 insurance provider for Obamacare next year. That’s almost 40 % of all counties in the USA. Why didn’t Republicans talk about that. never give real facts just BS emotion.
Now they see a real chance to get Single Payer. Real complete repeal would have improved things very visibly and Single Payer would have faded as a possibility. Now the drumbeat for Single payer will begin in earnest.
Very few people are on the exchanges- less than 3%. I don’t think it will matter imo
(R) may have RAN on ‘repeal’, but that’s know they’ve been selling since Jan. They essentially took the ball and ran, hence, they now own it.
Let’s not forget too, the (R) had NO message, no voice. They talked re: ‘bad, bad O’Care’ only briefly, then...crickets. Sorry, if WE know, THEY should know, the MSM isn’t going to help ‘em...so, they gotta be relentless of message.
Course, the (R) never seem to want to win, and you get what you have today: A majority party *wanting* to return to minority status
Hardball is the only game in town.
That wonderful Democrat idea explained in one line ...
I hope you're wrong, but I suspect you're right.
1,332 Counties Will Have Only One Health Insurer Option Under Obamacare in 2018

Single Payer will truly be the final structural nail in the coffin of the Republic. There will be lots more hammering but it will be merely decorative and detail shaping. The Coffin was constructed over a century ago with the ratification of the three Statist Amendments, the 16th, 17th, and 19th. Since then the lid and the handles have gradually come together and been placed. The lid is on and there needs only one final nail. Then it can go into the ground, or into the fire, depending on how the body is to be treated once the family understands that their progenitor is dead.
If the marketplace is the source of your healthcare/health insurance then you can always shop around. Barring any stupid regulatory roadblocks, you ought to be able to shop around across the country and you ought to be able to find someone who will offer you a reasonable product at a reasonable price.
OR
You can depend on the government for your healthcare/health insurance. In this case, there will always be stupid regulatory roadblocks of one sort or another, and if elections go in an unexpected direction, your ability to get access to anything reasonable may pretty much dry up overnight.
If you are Medicare with Tricare Life as your secondary, you have DICTATORSHIP CARE! Right down to where you can get your daily meds. And they can change what they cover at congress’s whim. We were NOT notified Nexium would be remove from the base list, I can’t take the 3 replacements. I had to read that on Google news, and scramble to get a letter of exemption from my Gastro, now Express Scripts is where I have to get it, 2 weeks to get a order or refills just shoved in your unsecured mailbox, unsigned for, and USPS is not careful, we often get neighbors orders, bad enough refills from base were 5 days, for us that comes out of Pensacola.
Goodness! That's almost like single payer.
Any and all problems will be blamed on Trump.
There will never be single payer. The insurance industry, with the exception of 2 or 3 players will die, forcing hundreds of thousands to unemployment lines, affecting numerous industries and businesses. Many doctors will retire, putting nurses, administrators and pharmaceutical companies out of business.
It will be totally unsustainable and will once and for all do what years of taxation and social engineering couldn’t do. It will create a two class society. The upper class will get richer, the poorer class will get poorer and depending on the size of the bank account and IRA, the middle class will go either way. And once you have that, Venezuela, Cuba and the Soviet Union are not far behind as the new way of life.
By refusing to repeal it, ObamaCare is now owned by the Republicans.
