Sen. John McCain is returning home to Arizona to begin radiation and chemotherapy treatment, following his decisive vote to block his party's attempt to repeal parts of Obamacare.
The Arizona Republican will begin the treatment Monday at the Mayo Center in Phoenix, but keep his work schedule and plans to return after August recess, according to a Friday statement from his office. The 80-year-old senator was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, after doctors performed surgery on a blood clot above his left eye.
McCain's vote was critical in Republican's failure to pass a "skinny repeal" of Obamacare, as the bill failed by one vote in the 1 a.m. hour on Friday. McCain was one of only three GOP senators to vote against the measure

Also, he and his doctors get to decide what he needs, unlike what healthcare will be when Obamacare fails shortly and this nation will be forced onto a government, one-payer, system. Remember the name of the little guy, Charlie Gard. He is the poster child for the budding healthcare tyranny the left put into place under Obama. Not to worry though, McCain was allowed, in his condition, to pass the vote to kill a chance to fix it. I am sure President Trump knows a whole lot more about this bunch than he expresses in his Tweets that his enemies hate so much. In my dreams, except for 25 or so members of Congress, I long for all of them to be replaced by “outsiders,” for the Swamp is becoming more recognizable each and every day. How about Ms Wasserman-Schultz and her DNC help? Will that be investigated? The muck and mire of the obvious corruption is almost too much to take some days.
I tend to agree...but I doubt if he’s in any shape or form to stand in the senate after this round of chemo (at his age). He’ll keep ‘hat’ and just pretend to show up, but I think he’ll still be there in the early spring of 2019 when he passes. Sad way to go....probably over 70 percent of GOP can’t stand the guy. Some idiot will probably go out in two years and try to force the Navy into naming their next carrier the USS McCain.

It should be noted that while Mayo’s has a respectable reputation as a hospital, Phoenix also has one of the preeminent Brain centers in the US called Barrow Neurological, which has a center developed to exclusively treat brain and neck cancers.
This again suggests that McCain’s tumor is inoperable, that the treatment at Mayo’s is more palliative than anything.
Ted Kennedy’s glioblastoma killed him right on schedule, after 15 months, the middle of the typical outcome for that cancer. And Kennedy went whole hog with aggressive radiation and chemo treatment. McCain is unlikely to do this, preferring a quicker end while keeping his hand in the political game.
