Any company that depends on hidden and overt taxpayer subsidies ultimately fails. Doubt consumers will rush to buy cars of questionable durability that can’t go very far.
This thing makes no economic sense, so of course it’s heavily subsidized by us taxpayers. Why would I want a car that goes such a short distance before needing a charge, and then who has the time to wait for the charge to complete? And that charge hold gets less and less as the batteries age. Additionally, why would I want to pay that huge cost for battery replacement in 5 to 7 years when the batteries become useless, only holding a minimal charge? This will never compete with a gas powered vehicle, until some new, future battery technology is invented. Right now, only leftist greenies who want to highlight their progressive bonafides for all to see are the market for this crap.

There are eight Tesla S’s and two Tesla X’s here..
They do just fine in the cold and snow.
I have seen plenty of Tesla Model S', Toyota Prius' and Ford CMAX vehicles in downtown Chicago, never seen one on a charger.

I have heard that the battery life is a little diminished in the extreme cold weather but not bad enough that someone wouldn't make it where ever they needed to go.
By the time we get there, battery technology will likely have improved dramatically as will the range of the vehicle.
We're going to need a lot more power generation stations though for all these electric vehicle.
Or I could put $35 k into my 67 Camaro and 57 Bel Air. decisions, decisions. Which will still be around 30 years from now? My 50 year old cars, or the Tesla?

Unless where you need to go is a few miles from civilization and you get stuck in a drift. With a gas engine and a bottle of water you will survive for days. With electric your bottle of water will freeze and you will die of thirst or hypothermia.
That depends on where you live. In Texas, coal supplies only 25% of the power and that is falling fast. Within 10 years or less, there will be no coal power in Texas, because they are all losing money.
In addition to the federal subsidy, Texas has a $2500 subsidy on electric cars, but you can't apply it to Teslas because it is illegal to sell Teslas in Texas because Tesla doesn't use dealers.

What’s the range of an e-car with the heat on? Normal real cars use the waste heat form the combustion process to heat the car’s cabin. E-cars cannot, so range is diminished.
It definitely looks better than the leaf or the volt. Never liked the Prius styling much either. Don’t even get me started on that goofy looking BMW.
