Secretary of Defense James Mattis has ordered a full review of any military training not directly relevant to warfighting.

Mattis told the services to conduct a review of the “requirements for mandatory force training that does not directly support core tasks,” according to a Friday memo obtained by Military Times.

In other words, Mattis wants a full examination of all the hours of burdensome, irrelevant training service members have to undergo before deployment.

This is great! One of my chief complaints the last 10-15 years has been all the ancillary training. It’s been death by PowerPoint and CBT!

In combat, not so much, but battlefields are fluid and asymmetric. no such thing as front lines so EVERYBODY needs to be riflemen first.

Good idea...the UCMJ is well suited to act as an incentive to follow orders and remain mission-ready.No need for sensitivity training.

And as an old Army guy my opinion might not be worth much but IMO females (except,perhaps,for Medical Officers) should not be assigned to vessels while underway.Of course Navy vets might want to set me straight on this.
