In Interview, Trump Expresses Anger at Sessions and Comey, and Warns Mueller

WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Wednesday that he never would have appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions had he known Mr. Sessions would recuse himself from overseeing the Russia investigation that has dogged his presidency, calling the decision “very unfair to the president.”

In a remarkable public break with one of his earliest political supporters, Mr. Trump complained that Mr. Sessions’s decision ultimately led to the appointment of a special counsel that should not have happened. “Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” Mr. Trump said.

In a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times, the president also accused James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director he fired in May, of trying to leverage a dossier of compromising material to keep his job. Mr. Trump criticized both the acting F.B.I. director who has been filling in since Mr. Comey’s dismissal and the deputy attorney general who recommended it. And he took on Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel now leading the investigation into Russian meddling in last year’s election.

Because we expect them to act like men. Instead they are castrated politicians who would not know they were in a fight if someone hit them over the head.

When and how did Pence distance himself from Trump?

Why is it most Republicans turn out to be disappointments? Probably because we actually expect something from them.

The white haired "Old Guard" guys need to go. I don't care what their socon bonafides are. They simply don't have the skills to play the game the way it's played these days. They're playing by the old rules.

Sessions is a perfect example. Great senator, totally unprepared for the job of AG. Played by Queensbury rules against opponents who hide knives in their shoes.

Me too. I’m not believing this until I hear it for myself.

He ended the interview with an amazing zinger. Unless someone said she shot someone in the back. Hello Seth Rich...

Sessions has turned out o be a limpdicked faggot. Too busy chasing down anybody with a joint, while completely ignoring the ongoing murders courtesy of the clinton mafia.

How can he disparage it as "the failing New York Times" and accuse it of lying and then turn around and grant them an interview? Hasn't he learned yet that they hold no good will towards Trump and his administration?

What's next? Sitting down with Anderson Cooper on CNN?

If you have been in Washington for more than two terms and have not been labelled a nut, or worse, you are a swamp creature. Sessions has been as ball less as GWB was in defending conservatives.

The problem with Sessions is the same problem with all GOP members who have spent too much time in Washington - they think that the Beltway media matters and that the rest of the country cares what Jake Tapper or Andrea Mitchell think. Sessions caved to media pressure despite the fact that no one outside of Washington cares what the MSM has to say.

Pence distancing himself from Trump is a weasel move of go it alone typical RINO, just there for the votes.
++++
I don’t think so. Pence is an honorable man. But I agree he not the guy to give us our badly needed 16 years. Just too mild mannered to follow someone like Trump. We need a young Giuliani.

Well, with all due respect to President Trump, no, Sessions should not have made any commitment to a president that he would not recuse himself in any particular case. As a matter of fact, Sessions, or any AG, should not be consulting with the president on any particular case. It is important for the DOJ to maintain independence from a president, unless you are willing to accept the very real possibility of a president interfering and essentially rendering himself “above the law”.

Sessions has yet to show any oomph at being AG.

So far, he has been less than stellar.

Ask for Sessions resignation and appoint Jay Sekulow in his place.

Please. What a fantastic suggestion. Jay would be perfect.

This will have the same effect as a vote of confidence would. Trump has none in Sessions and Sessions will eventually resign.

He did not sound angry, but said that Sessions should have told the President that he was going to recuse himself. Mr. Trump would have picked someone else.

Did a search for July 2017 NYT interview.
