WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Wednesday that he never would have appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions had he known Mr. Sessions would recuse himself from overseeing the Russia investigation that has dogged his presidency, calling the decision “very unfair to the president.”
In a remarkable public break with one of his earliest political supporters, Mr. Trump complained that Mr. Sessions’s decision ultimately led to the appointment of a special counsel that should not have happened. “Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” Mr. Trump said.
In a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times, the president also accused James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director he fired in May, of trying to leverage a dossier of compromising material to keep his job. Mr. Trump criticized both the acting F.B.I. director who has been filling in since Mr. Comey’s dismissal and the deputy attorney general who recommended it. And he took on Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel now leading the investigation into Russian meddling in last year’s election.

Still, the question is, who will replace Sessions and when will the replacement begin prosecuting people that need to be prosecuted?
Sessions has turned out to be gutless.
There is so much corruption surrounding him, its a target rich environment. As far as I can tell, he has yet to go after anyone.
Ask for Sessions resignation and appoint Jay Sekulow in his place.

I agree that Sessions needs to start shopping for his retirement home. Hopefully Trump’s next pick will also be in a “ take no prisoners” mood and will go after some big time prey. Some targets with a giant D tattooed on their backs.
Well, don’t we all remember Bill Clinton’s self admitted big mistake (Janet Reno)? And she ended up being Saturday Night Live cool despite being responsible for the bungled Branch Dividian raid that led to the deaths of many of those people and that in turn provided the fuse for the nutcases and their van bomb attack in Oklahoma City.

Trump is 100% correct. It’s refreshing to hear someone speak plainly, clearly, and truthfully.
Pence is Trump’s #1 mistake. Pence is NOT the man in 2024 to finish what Trump started.

Trump should really take advantage of the August recess and put through a slew of recess appointments. I’ve long advocated Rudy who just might be willing to take a recess appointment for 18 months.

Sessions was a great adviser on illegal immigration and trade for candidate Trump. He was an excellent senator too. Sadly, things haven’t worked out so well at the DOJ.
Pence distancing himself from Trump is a weasel move of go it alone typical RINO, just there for the votes
It’s not a dumb comment. It’s an honest comment. Trump doesn’t gloss things over; he says what he thinks.
The Mueller appointment was a disaster. Trump is laying the blame for it squarely where it belongs. Maybe this will get Sessions’ mind off increasing civil forfeitures and onto something more productive.
