...Why two black pastors are suing Coca-Cola
William Lamar, the senior pastor at D.C.’s historic Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, is tired of presiding over funerals for parishioners who died of heart disease, diabetes and stroke.

So on Thursday, he and another prominent African American pastor filed suit against Coca-Cola and the American Beverage Association, claiming soda manufacturers knowingly deceived customers about the health risks of sugar-sweetened beverages — at enormous cost to their communities.

The complaint, filed in D.C. Superior Court Thursday on behalf of the pastors and the Praxis Project, a public health group, alleges that Coke and the ABA ran an intentional campaign to confuse consumers about the causes of obesity.

Lamar and Delman Coates, the pastor at Maryland’s Mount Ennon Baptist Church, claim soda marketing has made it more difficult for them to protect the health of their largely black, D.C.-based parishioners.

Their case is similar to another suit that was filed, and later withdrawn, by the same legal team in California last January.

EBT

Gotta spend that money on something. And of course, we all know there are armed guards standing over the fresh produce aisles of the grocery stores, keeping all the poor folks away.

In Chicago this last weekend more blacks were killing each other. Where is the outrage on that? Oh wait no big company to sue to get whitey’s cash.

Sugary drinks are just the latest progressive obsession. They move from one crusade to another: bottled water, telephone books, light bulbs, paper shopping bags, toilet capacity, transgender bathrooms, gay marriage, posting calorie-counts in fast-food restaurants, GMO’s, wind farms, and on and on. That’s what progressivism is: it never stops until every single aspect of life is under complete government regulation.

Don't be too sure. They've already floated the idea of suing gun manufacturers for gun violence.

EBT

The Trump administration should do the right thing and not allow people to buy Coke and other sugary products with their EBT.

At the risk of coming across racist, but could the problem be Soul Food? There is a local joint that I simply LOVE to eat at, but that food, eaten every day, can kill you, LOL.

Once again, no body wants to take responsibility for their own actions.

Liars should pay bigly.

If you advertise false information that hurts people, pay bigly.

The whole justice system is about telling the truth, not lies. Pay bigly.

First Amendment is about truth not lies. Pay bigly.

It is damaging that food products advertise lies right on the package. Pay bigly.

Take down the ones you can. Bigly.

Why don’t they sue a liquor or cigarette company? Why not the local homo bathhouse?

“My mom also limited us drinking soda. So some of this comes back to parenting, doesn’t it?”

back in the day, at least back in MY day, high fructose corn syrup hadn’t been invented yet, and sugar import tariffs made table sugar VERY expensive, so soda, sugared cereals, et. al. were quite expensive. So for we kids, soda was a rare, expensive TREAT.

But those very same tariffs motivated the cheap manufacture of high fructose corn syrup from corn, where some of the corn syrup glucose is enzymatically converted to fructose, thereby giving high fructose corn syrup a sweetness profile nearly identical to table sugar (which is naturally 50/50 glucose/fructose).

Once the food industry had access to nearly unlimited quantifies of cheap table sugar substitute, sweetened beverages, desserts and snacks became major cheap money-makers for them, and they poured billions into pervasive and ubiquitous advertising.

It then became a decades long battle between highly educated and highly motivated parents and their advertisement-blighted offspring to withhold these poisonous foods from their children. Naturally, the less educated and less motivated parents succumbed to high fructose addiction and poisoning themselves.

“Fructose is poison.”

Sucrose (cane sugar) is a dimer, made of one molecule of glucose connected to one molecule of fructose, which is rapidly split into those two by enzymes in the mouth and gut. High glucose levels are what lead to diabetes.

That’s a good thing to remember. Don’t forget about all the other sugars we eat, either, such as maltose and lactose that also contain glucose.

Sweets vs streets.

How many 18 year olds are dropping dead from Coca Cola?

I rest my case.

We’’re loosing far too many people to violence. Most of the violence is committed by blacks.

Therefore, all black pastors, preachers and ministers should be sued into the streets for not doing their damned job.

How would that work as a counter suit?

So Larmar’s parishioners ate kale salads, vegetables and fish for all their meals but drank a case of Coke each day? And they drank the Coke because the company advertised it to them as a health drink?
