McDonald's conducts investigation after woman says employee refused to serve police officer

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - McDonald's is conducting a full investigation after a Hanover woman wrote on Facebook saying an employee at an Henrico McDonald's refused to serve her husband while he was on his dinner break.

The woman said her husband, who is a police officer, was in uniform and drove his police vehicle through the drive-thru. He paid for his food and moved up to the next window.

"The young man who was working that window looked at him and backed away from the window mouthing something to my husband. My husband couldn't hear him since the window was closed. The guy finally walked to the window and slid it open. My husband told him that he couldn't hear him and the guy said, 'I ain't serving no police' and closed the window. The guy proceeded to tell everyone in McDonald's, including the manager, that he was not going to serve the police. The employees stared at my husband trying to figure out what they should do. After all, he had paid for his food, but no one wanted to give it to him. Finally, one guy brought it over to him without a single word," said the woman.

McDonald's issued a response:

"At our restaurants, we are dedicated to serving all of our customers, including the police officers who protect and sersve our communities. We are conducting a full investigation into this matter and will take appropriate actions."

I don’t know what I would have done if I was there and witnessed that. I know one thing and that is I would not be quiet.

Not sure what was up. But I would handle the situation carefully. Some guy who is not serving police is a nut job. And he needs to be dismissed with a little security around.

Here are my racist opinions and observations about McDonald’s. I go to McDonald’s a lot. Normally I only get an unsweetened Ice Tea. But i have noticed these generalizations. When the staff is Hispanic the place is clean and run efficiently. There is almost always a Hispanic manager. When the staff is black the place is dirty and disorganized. When the place is white its slow but clean. Its better when there are summer high school kids in the place. If there are only older people its clean but very slow. The manager is almost always a white male. Normally its white in small towns and rural areas. Larger cities tend not to have white McDonald’s. Frankly I love the Hispanic McDonald’s. There are a few McDonald’s that have a mix of Asian employees from all over Asian, not one place. I have yet to decide about these places. I need more data.

Dollar to a doughnut says the little freak that didn’t want to serve the cop has a warrant out for his arrest and didn’t want to be seen...

Also check all interior video surveillance to see if any ees “tampered” with the cop’s food.

After changing to 20/20 it's still slow; the little black dot keeps spinning CCW saying 'loading' 'connecting' then after about two minutes it changes to a green circle spinning CW still saying 'loading' 'connecting' then it finally starts loading the page but in short sections.

When I hit 'POST' it goes through that same routine again - taking about three minutes to finally upload.

I'm having a similar problem also Sky Dancer.

I see you're located in Australia..

I'm about 2500 miles away from the Free Republic server and it sometimes takes up to a minute for simple text pages to load.

Sounds like either a routing problem ( connection route and hops it takes to get there ) or a server configuration problem and there's NOTHING we can do to alter it.

According to Blue Lives Matter, it's the McDonald's at 8210 Brook Rd, Richmond, VA 23227.

In case any Richmond / Henrico Freepers are interested...

Thanks but I'm no longer located in Australia - I'm home and have been home several years. I just left my profile page the way it was when I was there just to let folks know what I did there plus it took some time to put it all together is why it still shows Oz; however near the top of my profile page I mentioned I've returned and am now flying for Frontier Airlines.

I don't know from anything about routing problems but I have seven tabs up on my laptop so while FR is loading I go to Newsbusters/Breitbart/Drudge etc and watch to see when FR loads.

I've had NO problems in the past but ever since FR supposedly installed a new server I've had these very slow load times on THREE different devices. Two of them are desktop systems wired directly into the Internet the other is a pad that operates on wifi.

Somehow I have NO LAGS on any site except FR. I think that says it's on their end not mine.

By the way it took 50 sec just for my preview of my reply to you showed up before hitting post.

In adding the last sentence it took another 20 sec to show once I hit "preview."

Sounds like a routing problem as I am not seeing what you are seeing. Try using

209.157.64.200

in place of freerepublic.com. That may help.

Who knows what they might do to the food before they give it to you.

I went to a McDonalds and was right behind someone guys in uniform. I think they were local LEOs. I was traveling and started eating driving down the road. Things didn't look right, I pulled over and looked at my food. Wouldn't eat it.

I wrote to McDonalds about it and they referred it to the local franchise. The local franchise denied that there was anything wrong with the food and sent me a coupon for a soda!!!! LOL

I wouldn't step food in a McDonalds if you paid me. Not even to use their bathroom. I found that Kentucky Fried chicken has wonderful coleslaw. I get it and a biscuit. Much better.

He’s a cop.

He could have arrested the POS for theft.

Oh boy. Automation cannot come soon enough for the fast-food industry. McDonald’s practically invented the assembly-line process for making fast food. Now they need to pioneer the next step toward fully automated processes with minimal human intervention.
