I like that India is going for the nukes to hit China anywhere.
We need to help India out.
I’ve always said this about MacArthur and Patton having it right on action needing to be taken against China and Russia.

So in your mind, letting dim bulb MacArthur unleash a full war into China would have fixed everything?

I am personally no fan of MacArthur.
Not saying he didn’t have talent. I am saying other people with less talent could have done his job with less headache.

No can do. Japan would be destroyed in a nuke counterstrike by China. Japan can assemble shelved parts into nukes within a few days time. They have enough weapons-grade plutonium for several hundred nukes. And probably a bunch of stockpiled parts ready to assemble. Nukes are a last resort by Japan. Their "self-defense" navy can pretty much destroy the Chinese navy without resorting to nukes.
Probably not very much. Other than some skirmishes with the Vietnamese from time to time they would have very little. Until they did obtain experience I would look for human waves like they did in the Korean War.
If we fight the chicoms we need to keep it regulated to air/sea campaigns with very limited ground operations. The only way we stand toe to toe in ground fight is with Indian or Russian interventions against the chicoms. The other option is what MaCarther wanted nukes to negate their manpower advantage.
In an air/sea campaign if we do it right we would tear them a new one.
I miss Sam Kinison, and Rodney Dangerfield. Man, Sam was a beast of a comic; and Rodney had great timing.

The distance between Okinawa and the Miyako Islands is just 150 miles, close enough by FAR to guarantee a costly air/sea battle with Japan.
Were China to take the Miyakos (totally uncontested Japanese territory and home to maybe 40,000 Japanese and featuring a 7,000 foot airport, quite easy for an Il-76, etc) they would almost certainly have to take Okinawa at the same time, in order to thwart an easily mounted counter-attack from there.
Of course, that would involve the USA.

Any attempt at takeover by China should be met with nukes. I see China moving toward a pre-WW2 Japan moves. If we ever got in a war with them they need to be decimated with nukes.
