Central Americans, ‘Scared of What’s Happening’ in U.S., Stay Put
The New York Times ^ | July 3,2017 | KIRK SEMPLE

CHOLOMA, Honduras — His bags were packed, and the smuggler was ready. If all went well, Eswin Josué Fuentes figured he and his 10-year-old daughter would slip into the United States within days.

Then, the night before he planned to leave, he had a phone conversation with a Honduran friend living illegally in New York. Under President Trump, the friend warned, the United States was no longer a place for undocumented migrants.

Shaken, Mr. Fuentes abruptly ditched his plans in May and decided to stay here in Honduras, despite its unrelenting violence and poverty. He even passed up the $12,000 in smuggler fees that his sister in the United States had lined up for the journey.

“I got scared of what’s happening there,” Mr. Fuentes said.

While some of Mr. Trump’s most ambitious plans to tighten the border are still a long way off, particularly his campaign pledge to build a massive wall, his hard-line approach to immigration already seems to have led to sharp declines in the flow of migrants from Central America bound for the United States. Continue reading the main story

From February through May, the number of undocumented immigrants stopped or caught along the southwest border of the United States fell 60 percent from the same period last year, according to United States Customs and Border Protection — evidence that far fewer migrants are heading north, officials on both sides of the border say.

We should invade Mexico and install a government that’s not so corrupt. Just like we did in Iraq. Our reason would be civil rights abuses.

The reason we won’t is cheap labor won’t come here if they can get decent wages in Mexico. Plus, a clean government in Mexico would be a stiff competitor.

Heck, the threat of enforcement works!

Like our electoral process, if the governments (State, local, and Feds) start monitoring and enforcing the laws, cheating will drop.

So do the numbers not caught vary proportionally with the numbers caught, or is it safe to assume that the numbers not caught reduces more than proportionally due to the "attention per capita" ratio?

Winning.

As an aside, we just came off of a Caribbean cruise, and there were a lot of Spanish speaking people on the cruise that were well dressed, spending lots of money, having a great time with families, dancing up a storm, etc.

My 16 year old, who is apparently brainwashed at his Baptist high school on a daily basis, made some snide comment about how “these” are the people I want to keep out with a wall.

Child is clueless.

All this time since the last amnesty all that was needed to stop the flow was a President willing to enforce the law.

Both parties have made sure we could not get one.

Thank God Donald Trump stepped up.

The Honduran had $12,000 in smuggler fees available.......from his sister.

His sister “escaped Honduran poverty” and is already in the United States.

Q. So where did she get 12 thousand dollars to give to her illegal brother?

A. Probably using multiple identities—sucking up our tax dollars all over the place.

Someone should find his sister and find out if she is also an illegal alien.

If conditions are as bad in the “triangle” as the slimes reports, the citizens should take up their pitchforks, tar, feathers, and clean house.

Central Americans, ‘Scared of What’s Happening’ in U.S., Stay Put

“Oh please. Nothing in enforcement has changed since Trump was elected.”

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2017/apr/25/donald-trump/illegal-immigration-lowest-17-years-trump-said/

Illegal immigration on the U.S.-Mexico border is “the lowest in 17 years.”
— Donald Trump on Friday, April 21st, 2017 in an interview with the Associated Press

“Border Patrol data support Trump’s claim. In March, Border Patrol recorded 12,193 apprehensions at the southwest border, the lowest in at least 17 years.”

Recall that Obama had Border Patrol agents acting as nannies for children of illegals while candidate Cruz greeted them handing out teddy bears.
You may not like it, but President Trump promised to pull the `welcome mat’ from our southwest border and he’s doing it.

I was around 50 years ago.

I grew up on the border.

Enforcement was RUTHLESS.

In 1965, in Tucson, you knew who the legal and illegal Mexicans were: the illegals were the ones doing 34 in a 35 mph zone. Because if the cops stopped them, a few minutes later the little green Ford vans showed up and Adios, Guero...you going back to Mexico.

It was after the “civil rights revolution” of the ‘60s that this began to be watered down: La Raza Unida and the other Mexican terrorist organizations started agitating violently to stop the police from enforcing the laws.

This takes us to now, when we have the same people now running the California legislature, working doggedly to undermine and destroy the will of the U.S. to enforce its laws.

All that is happening is they are now confronted by the most formidable force in 5 decades: Donald J. Trump.

The enforcement that he is commanding is about where we were in 1987. When we get back to 1965, the forces of Evil emanating from Mexico City will be in full retreat, terrified that the Big Gringo is finally on to them and not gonna back down.

Bitch should be arrested for being an accessory to a crime.

That's an awful lot of welfare money, our money, that she saved.
