A former substitute teacher in southwestern Missouri was arrested Sunday and charged in connection with alleged sexual contact with one of her students.
Loryn Barclay, 24, faces charges in two counties as a result of the alleged relationship with the 17-year-old boy while she worked as a substitute teacher at Monett High School.
According to court documents, a Monett City Police Officer Jay Jastal, who works at the high school, was tipped off about the relationship in April. The officer said the student confirmed the relationship with Barclay on May 3. The following day, Barclay admitted having "an inappropriate relationship" with the boy.
According to the affidavit, Barclay said she performed oral sex on the boy in a car at a park located in Lawrence County, Mo. She also admitted she had intercourse with the teen at the boy's home in neighboring Barry County.

If she was just any old 24 year old I doubt if anyone would be worked up. But the position of teacher is different. You don’t want this in any school.
I have no problem with the current “age of consent”...I was just saying I doubt the 17 year old boy feels like a “victim”...I mean he went back for more....

As I stated, and will state for you again since you couldn’t grasp the concept the first time around, these laws are to protect young kids from being exploited by same sex adults too.
You may want to equate them differently, but statutory rape is still an abuse of a minor.
We we play this stupid ass game of “the 17 year old liked it”. We could say the same thing for a 12 year old, if it were true. That test fails.
She’s very cute. This always confuses me - why commit a felony when she could probably have her pick of adult men closer to her age? Even if you pretend it’s not morally wrong because she’s “only” a substitute teacher, it’s shockingly stupid to risk so much even for great sex. [And I love great sex; I’m just not a fan of felony convictions.]

If a 15 year old girl walks up to you and “wants it”, is it okay then? If she comes over to your house seven nights a week, is it then deemed to be okay?
She was hired as a substitute, then promoted to paraprofessional and then moved to teaching assistant. So which job did she actually start having a relationship with? Article doesn’t say.
It makes for a lot of hormonal situations. Back in the 70s we had a HS coach who started dating a senior girl; it was known to everyone in our small town. They got engaged and it all fell apart when she got pregnant, left town for 9 months, and the coach promptly left town (alive).

Up until the last twenty years or so, I thought males were the predominant offenders when it came to underage offenses.
Almost every one of these cases is a reasonably good looking woman, who could have walked into any bar and found a willing single night partner.
Why the need to hood up with high school kids.
Most folks would say these women should be much more mature than the boys.
