Jon Ossoff's $23 Million Loss Shows Dems Have No Idea How to Win in the Age of Trump
The Daily Beast ^ | June 21,2017 | Patricia Murphy

When the full returns are counted, Republicans here will have to ask themselves why the race was so close in a community that Mitt Romney won by 23 points in 2012, and also what Handel did right to keep her own fortunes separate and apart from Donald Trump’s Tweet storms.

But Democrats will have more soul searching to do. They are now zero-for-four in special elections since Trump became the president and need to understand why.

They’ll be quick to say the Ossoff race never should have been so close, which is true. And that Ossoff won in a sense just by being competitive in an R+10 district, which is sort of true.

But after $23 million, a candidate who genuinely ignited the grassroots, and a Republican president who may or may not be (but probably is) under FBI investigation and can’t stop talking about it, the real question Democrats need to answer is: What’s it going to take to win an election in the era of Trump?

As of Tuesday night, they still have no idea.

Laughing my Ossoff!

LMOO or LMO. :-)

Radio station KSFO had people call in with one-liners using the word Ossoff. It was great!

I love how they try to lowball the number. It is more like a $35 million loss. GOP got massively outspent down here and still won.

as long as the Dems keep “winning in a sense” that’s ok.

All the Democrats have is this: “Americans are deplorable, ignorant, racist, and homophobic. America was never great.”

That is baked into the Democrat/media/academic complex. They hold it as a truth that is self-evident. They cannot disguise their disdain for ordinary Americans, no matter how hard they try.

It is just not a winning message in large parts of the country.

Yea, I was driving to the Range Saturday morning and there was a large panel van on the highway, completely covered on all sides and the back with LED’s and it was playing Ossoff television commercials on all three sides as it was rolling down the highway.

They spent a TON of cash.

Safe bet that Ossoff’s brief political career is over. Back to making documentaries and living off the trust fund Pajama Boy.

Californian dems spent 40 mil to watch a donkey get screwed, they could have spent 5 bucks in tijuana instead.

Democrats, using capitalism to try to buy socialism and failing

“And that Ossoff won in a sense just by being competitive in an R+10 district...”

You spent 10s of MILLIONS to get that far! That isn’t a win. That’s like using a space shuttle to lose a race with a biplane, and feeling good because you at least got off the ground.

40+ million in the runoff election, almost ALL of it by Ossoff AND by Ossoff groups such as the very misleading, factually WRONG lies by AARP as they claimed that Obamacare’s replacement created an Age Tax and would throw millions out of health care.

8+ million more in the ALWAY very favorable press corpse in the primary election.

Why was Ossoff close?

He NEVER RAN AS A DEMOCRAT! Not ONE of his ads in the talk radio mentioned he was a democrat, running to support Pelosi and ALL of HER agenda’s.

It was only the last 1 week of ads funded by the Congressional Leadership Fund that linked Ossoff to Pelosi and her programs that changed these 16 weeks of constant “I am a conservative running against waste” barrage of lies!

This writer seems destined to forever be mystified by Trump’s proclivity to tweet. Contrary to her belief, folks actually LIKE Trump’s tweets. They are nowhere even near to the negative things she sees them to be.

For once we have a president who knows what it is, will tell it like it is, and will fight for what he believes in.

This she still references the tweets as if they is a big negative local candidates have to overcome. Bull Stuff!

How can Trump’s obvious positive aspects be so befuddling to these people?

We hate the press. Trump is doing an end run on them. What is not to like about that?

DUH!

Oooooohhhhh, ooooooohhhhhhh, I know, I know, more conversations with our kids about butt/oral sex in elementary school, more gay marriage conversations, and how men who identify as women should be allowed into the girls bathroom, more anti-America rhetoric, more talk of globalism...Yeah, and more talk of gender fluidity...And, and while they are at, more talk of how stupid God and the pledge of Allegiance to flag is, and supporting athletes that kneel during the national anthem, and more support for BLM groups and more support for groups that shoot at police, and continue to tell everyone how bad the police are and please, please, please for the love God keep telling us how bad being able to defend yourself and the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution are...Not to mention how science is settled on global warming/climate change but science isn’t settled on when life starts...Yeah, that’s the ticket!!!

Yup! They don’t “need more cowbell”. They need more Maxine Waters! Maxine is the heart, soul and voice of today’s democRAT party. Listen to, and watch Maxine for 10 minutes, and you’ll know the entire ethos of the democRAT party.

You Trumpsters are all so predictable. This election had nothing to do with President Trump; it was decided upon purely parochial, local issues.

(At least that's what I think the morning news shows all claimed).
