Black Lives, and Black Second Amendment Rights, Matter
Townhall.com ^ | June 18, 2017 | Paul Jacob

All lives matter. As do Second Amendment rights.

Which is why the killing of 32-year-old Philando Castile last July was disturbing, and the acquittal of St. Anthony, Minnesota, police officer Jeronimo Yanez, this past Friday, so troubling.

Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, who live-streamed the chilling aftermath of the shooting on her cell phone, assumed the traffic stop was for a broken tail-light. But Officer Yanez, four years on the force, stopped Castile believing he might be the perpetrator of a recent robbery. Castile was not; he was merely the same race (black), roughly the same age, and had the same hair-style (dreadlocks).

Of course, many men in the Twin Cities metro area fit those characteristics.

Much about the incident remains unclear and in dispute. What seems indisputable is this: Philando Castile told the Latino officer that he was carrying a gun, for which he had a concealed carry permit. That doesn’t sound like an admission someone would make if planning to whip out that pistol and start blasting away.

Also certain is the fact that Officer Yanez fired seven times into the automobile carrying Castile, Reynolds and Reynolds’ four-year-old daughter. Five bullets struck Castile, two in the heart. One bullet barely missed the toddler strapped into a car seat in the back. Castile later died at a local hospital.

The audio on the cellphone footage, which began after the shots were fired, has Yanez yelling: “I told him not to reach for it! I told him to get his hand out.”

Yanez should never be able to protect and serve again.

I don’t get why the jury let him off.

I never believed all the silly stories about Trayvon and the Gentle Giant being good guys, ever.

But this verdict really surprised me.

It really didn’t seem like he was doing anything that would get him shot.

That some cops are cruising around, actively looking to start fights..? I’m familiar with that.

But this verdict..?

wow, I’m very surprised.

Drugs and guns don’t mix. Want to smoke weed? Leave the firearms locked in the safe, same for drinking booze.

He likely will not.

There is video as well. The jury saw the video, and they acquitted Yanez.

I found it interesting that the pistol was in Castile’s right front pocket.

-Black Lies Matter

they have to Lie to make the Cop white.

They have to lie and make out he’s a fine young man who does everything right, like over 50 stops, drugs, Islamic connection, driving for 6 years with no license, and reaching for something.

Lavish has to change critical parts of her story over and over - and the Media has to provide cover for her and ignore that troubling red flag.

The Mother’s Felony Fraud has to be hidden, while peddling her quotes and accusations.

And the Minnesota Gov has to change normal procedure to obfuscate and contain.

Yeah, we’ve never seen this before. Pass the Trash can full of money.

I totally disagree. I recall the facts, and this guy did not keep both hands in full view of the officer, and; he did go for his pistol. The girlfriend’s story is BS. So what if he stopped the wrong car, got the wrong gut initially. This many blacks fit the description is no different then white, about 6’ and typical beard you see these days. This damn race BS has to stop.

They are arrogant, mouth off, dont follow police procedures when it comes to being pulled over, antagonistic, aside form a list if arrests the officer see’s before pulling him over knowing what he might be up against. Scumbag politicians side with drug dealers, and felons

Always make it a point to tell an officer in a traffic stop that you have a CCW before saying the “I have a gun” words. It’s the safest thing to do for all concerned.

Always keep your hands visible. Do not make any moves unless directed by the cop. You see how this ended up when not following these common sense rules.

At what point do you defend your life? Would you sacrifice yourself because there is a woman and child in the car? I might point out that no one was hit except the target.

The best thing that can come out of this is for respectable black people to realize they have a critical need to be legally armed in public.

They *have* realized something that many white people haven’t yet: you cannot rely on the police to protect you and your family. While this likely does not indicate animosity, though many black people interpret it as such, and in some cases are correct; the underlying truth is that there *cannot* be enough police to do so.

In this case, race may actually have less to do with it than it appears: there have been many instances where police are actively searching for violent criminals and they discover someone who either may look like them, or even looks very different from them.

And the police are very, very easy to trigger at these times. The trouble is that if the person pulled over is expecting a routine stop, they do not realize that they are at grave risk.
