Massive Staff Walkout Planned at House Oversight Committee When Gowdy Takes Over, Chaffetz AWOL
Medium ^ | 5/27/2017 | Jack Posobiec

Many senior and long-time staffers of the House Oversight Committee plan a walkout when Congressman Trey Gowdy takes the gavel over from Jason Chaffetz. Gowdy, who led the two-year House Benghazi probe, has secured near-unanimous support among members of the House Republican Steering Committee as well as Speaker Paul Ryan. Additionally, Jason Chaffetz has not been seen at work “for three months” and generally only appears when cameras are rolling.

Agree. I see Chaffetz as a do nothing free loader.

The RINOs work well with the enemy within the midst. Is it any surprise that Washington DC is a den of snakes, a pit of vipers, a hellhole of treasonous bastards doing all possible to destroy the nation?

Self-draining swamp??

A flushing swamp. One that rids itself of the alluvial muck which stinketh so.

2 out of 90 are democrats? Have you ever worked among the civil servants of DC? It is entirely plausible.

I thought Chaffetz was leaving government. Love Gowdy, though. He is a “junkyard dog.”

It is possible that you are right and Gowdy is a phony. But let me ask you, how can anyone in Gowdy’s position “get any results” when the only power he has is to investigate? Gowdy has uncovered plenty of criminal activity, but a Congressional committee cannot indict anybody. Only the Justice Department can “get any results” by bringing criminal charges, and Obama’s DOJ has steadfastly refused to act against its own fellow travelers. Now it is up to President Trump and AG Sessions to get results.

Finally some truth and common sense knowledge of how our government works. Thank you. The Gowdy bashers on FR cannot understand that he has no ability to arrest Hillary, Rice, etc. and put them in jail. Without his work in committee, Hillarys private server may still be private. He has done a great job.

FTA: Additionally, Jason Chaffetz has not been seen at work “for three months” and generally only appears when cameras are rolling.

I thought this was the central part of the job description for a Congresscritter.

At first glance, I thought that a committee staff of 90 hardly represents a "massive" walkout. But assuming an average staff weight of 180 lbs, the total is 16,200 lbs -- a considerable amount of dead weight!

In other words, Trey Gowdy, a former prosecutor, is going to bring in his own staff. The current staff, primarily Democrats from BYU, is fleeing to K-Street gigs.

I don't see how this is a bad thing.

Pres. Trump needs to do a Reagan-vs-PATCO style purge, and soon.

-- Chaffetz and Gowdy are both equally useless and ineffective. --

The system is designed that way. The role these clowns signed up for is to be the "monitor," not the fixer. They have no authority for action beyond monitoring.

Judge them on the quality of their monitoring.

The “Committee” has a staff? Is this real? Or is this just fake news? If this is true, we have found an initial target for swamp draining. Not just this committee, but all of them. Too much money being spent on ..... creatures of no value.

Well sated. The congress has no power to enforce any laws that are seen to be broken.

Hearings are sources of information used to develop legislation. Your point about the DOJ must be repeated over and over in order to be
understood by those here who constantly bash the congress as ineffective.

The issue is systemic.

A huge central government means power and money are available in DC.

Thousands of enterprises (profit, non-profit, foreign government, special interests of different varieties) will do everything they can to get their share of the “goodies”. Every bureaucracy that can collect intelligence on the Congress and White House folks will do so as well.

The “best” at it will collect data on key Congress-critters for blackmail purposes (the “sticks”) and dole out major bribes to family members, offshore accounts, etc. (”carrots”).

This is the swamp.

There are two kinds of folks in the swamp—those who are in the game and profit from it—and those who are naïve and think they are focusing on “policy”.

In a Kleptocracy there is no “policy”—there is just theft.
