Fox News slipped to third place in the primetime demo for the first time in 17 years last week as competitors CNN and MSNBC enjoyed a surge in viewership thanks to a chaotic news week for President Donald Trumps administration.
For the week of May 15-19, Fox News averaged just 497,000 viewers in the advertiser-coveted key demo of adults 25-54 during primetime hours, compared to CNNs 589,00 and MSNBCs 611,000, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which cited data from ratings tracker Nielsen.

If we turn on the TV, it's on One America News. Not as slick, but not as slick. Ya know? d;^)
Seems like real even-keeled reporting.
Ain’t no shock
I agree with that. Now he’s even willing to lose money to take Trump down.
It’s why I have a big problem with these conglomerate media organizations.
Who cares if FoxNews, CBS, ABC, or NBC make money? They can lose money as long as the corporate parent organization can take the single sector losses.
Say what you want, but BOR gave FOX the ratings that they once enjoyed.
That’s true.
“They lost the Trump voter crowd.”
They lost the Republican base and the O’Reilly liberals.
I have no doubt FNC will get more liberal, but I don’t think it has happened much yet.
Love him or hate him O’Reilly was a big ratings draw. I often got irritated with him for his bloviating but often went back. His ratings allowed him to attract better guests than hosts with lower ratings would.
I like Tucker, but his shtick gets tiresome pretty quickly. I’ve lost interest.
Martha McCallum is just boring.
The Five is awful, even worse without Eric Bolling. Gutfeld is often insufferable, Guillfoyle is sharp, but her sluttiness is distracting, Perino is boring, Williams is detestable. Their only primetime show I’m interested in is Hannity, and I’m usually in bed by 10 pm.
My unsolicited advice is to replace The Five with a show with a host who’s interesting and knows his or her ass from page 8.
Also Bolling’s new show at 5 pm is just an embarrassment: none of their hosts is a specialist at anything as far as I can tell.
I like Hemmer/Bream from 9 - 11 am.
I started noticing this some time ago. It is over a year; but, I began to notice that the people I was used to seeing doing commentary and such had been replaced by people I had never heard of, nor had ever seen before. It didn't take long to catch the more liberal slant from these people.
I am as curious as a previous poster, to see if the other networks gained audience when FNC lost ratings; or, if they just turned the t.v. off.
Fox viewers have been betrayed - they’re like jilted lovers - they will punish Fox, and they won’t be back......
“Fox ‘n Friends,” especially when Kilmeade and Earhardt are off and Pete Hegseth and Abby Huntsman are on, is by far the best show FNC has going other than Hannity and occasionally Tucker. The rest of the FNC line-up sucks big time.
Fox Business is the go-to channel now, along with OAN.
What’s the “shock?” Faux News sucks. Watch One America News OAN IS what Fox pretended to be.
Fox needs to give prime time slots to Laura Ingraham and Mark Steyn, and demote McCallum and Watters. I think their ratings would rebound in a week. McCallum has no star appeal (boring), and Watters is just a one-trick-pony “segment” guy; he can’t carry an entire hour.
I don't have cable any longer. I have always liked Martha, but I haven't seen her recently. It's hard for me to make a good case for her, not having watched her recently.
She seemed to always be upbeat, and a good provider of news. Other than that, I can't say much.
She was fine as far as I was concerned. I don't need star power. Put up against a guy like O'Reilly, I'd honestly take Martha hands down.
As for Watters, I think you have a point. He's great in the quirky moment, but not as a host.
Again, I don't watch him regularly either.
Thanks for the comments.
Fox has strange shows now. To many new ones. I like OAN.
I haven’t been watching OANN enough yet. I should.
Thanks for reminding me of that.
As for FoxNews, I didn’t care for O’Reilly, but I think they really screwed themselves there.
If he was a bad player in relation to the women, then okay. I wasn’t convinced of that.
That 9pm show with the five people sitting around a table is so awful. It’s a shame because Hannity @10pm suffers.
It’s funny because Fox may try to blame the left, but what I’ve heard is that conservatives have thought they have gone too far left. I don’t watch a lot of Fox. I like Tucker and Hannity - I don’t watch every night, though. I have read Murdoch’s liberal sons are trying to make it into another leftwing media outlet. That’s not necessary. Fox News was successful because it was unique and filled a niche not seen before in media. If they go left, conservatives will stop watching, and liberals, who already dislike Fox, will likely not switch over because they already have a multitude of media outlets to choose from. CNN and NBC already provide 97% negative coverage of the President. There would be no reason for liberals to switch to Fox when their needs are already being met.
By the way, CNN is a disgrace to journalism. That is all.
The only newscast I watch. I do watch Tucker on YouTube, listen to Hannity on radio, but the channel is crap to me.
.
>> “I do watch Tucker on YouTube” <<
LOL!
Since ROKU came along we never see regular TV channels.
.
I think Martha McCallum is a decent reporter, reasonably conservative, but I don’t think she has the charisma to carry a whole hour. I don’t dislike her, I just think she’s not a ratings magnet.
