Merkel: Germany may move troops from Turkey to Jordan

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has warned that Berlin may pull its troops from Turkey following a recent deterioration in relations.

The chancellor’s latest warning comes after Turkey denied visas to German lawmakers who wanted to visit troops at the Incirlik air base, located near Adana in south Turkey.

“We will continue to talk with Turkey, but in parallel we will have to explore other ways of fulfilling our mandate,” Merkel said at a press conference on Monday.

“That means looking at alternatives to İncirlik, and one alternative among others is Jordan,” she said. …

I thought of Merkel watching the Trump speech as he is telling the middle east to get this extremist monster under control, Merkel is inviting them in to savage her people and their culture. What a maroon.

Germany has incorporated so many Muslims into its country that its culture is evolving as a post Christian hybrid. Whether they like it or not, Germany will be forced to be the interface between Europe and the Islamic Mideast as the Muslims are forced to go through its painful transformation to cope with modernity. Hopefully the US will be wise enough to withdraw and let the locals sort it out.

We knew things got out of hand when they banned pork sausages in German schools last year:

This article was amended on 21 March 2016. The headline previously stated that pork has been banned in Germany. This is not correct. Some cafes and schools have stopped serving pork products, but it has not been banned.

Sensationalism got the best of them; the scare quotes around “bans” were not in the original title.

That of course does not excuse the dhimmitude of those cafés that did actually stop serving pork sausages and other pork foods.

All of NATO, including the U.S. should remove all non-Turkish NATO facilities and troops from Turkey. That should include all U.S. troops and facilities in Turkey, whether NATO related or not.

Agreed. Ideally a new strategic base could be built in Rojava (the de facto autonomous Kurd populated region in northern Syria). The area would be friendly to American military forces (which already have very good alliances with the Kurds and the SDF). The area would be strategically perfectly situated for an American/NATO base to replace Incirlik Air Base. And it would have the benefit of not being under the thumb of the emerging Turkish Caliphatethat Erdogan is establishing.

Germany bans pork so as not to offend Muslims. But there is no concern for how sausages-lovers might be offended.

Old guy here. Back in the 60s I was stationed in Germany. Germany was forced to “import” laborers for massive reconstruction projects. They came mainly from Turkey. The war had claimed so many working age Germans and crippled thousands more, the German government had no where to turn. But Turkey was different then...
