So lets use a little physics here. If one fills a glass with ice then fills the remaining space with water and let it all melt what happens? Does the glass overflow a volume of 1/4 the glass? No. I would say that the glass doesn’t overflow at all because the volume of ice is greater than the volume of water. Put a bottle of beer in the freezer - it breaks because the frozen beer (actually the water in the beer) has a greater volume than the bottle can contain.
Now we extrapolate this to the poles. Most of the ice is floating in the sea. The sea has a volume of 1.332 billion cubic kilometers (courtesy of Google). The ice caps and other frozen stuff have a volume of 24 million cubic kilometers (again from Google search). Ice has a volume of 9% more than water - so 91% of 24 million is 21.8 million cubic kilometers which is .018% the volume of the entire oceans - call it 2%. So if all the ice in the entire globe melted the sea level could conceivably rise 2% - not accounting for water vapor contained in the air.
Sounds like a plan.
I get to NYC pretty regularly and when I go I always make it a point to visit Central Park.Don't know how familiar you are with the Park but it's mainly rolling landscape with open grassy areas and is dotted by strange (strange to *me* at least) rocky outcrops.
Well,a few years ago I saw a documentary on the Science Channel which specifically mentioned Central Park and the outcrops. They said that the outcrops represent irrefutable proof that the Park was once covered by a glacier that was about a thousand feet thick.
I love it when a plan comes together.
I consider 1500 ppm, the level aimed for by most commercial garden/nursery carbon dioxide generators to be optimal, and I don't see why we should settle for anything less than the optimal for God's Green Earth.
Now I'm off to conscientiously enlarge by carbon footprint by turning my compost pile.
Still generating robust amounts of carbon dioxide, methane and water vapor...
For a Greener Planet!
The enviros should be cheering this.
The Planet strikes back!
“Cats and dogs living together — Mass Hysteria!!!”
Waterworld! Waterworld! Party time! Excellent!
“So, yeah, hemi idling in the driveway...”
We have seven cars, but average engine displacement is only 3.4 liters. We’ll have to up our game. I see a 392 Scat Pack in my future.
How appropriate, I’m reading Michael Crichton’s ‘State of Fear’, 2nd time, right now.
You’ll be better off building a bunker.
And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
The bible is always their last resort. Then they invent a new lie (oceans are next) or change the name of global warming again.
And God said unto Noah,”How well can you swim, Noah?”
Too many variables. Many unknown.
The only thing flooding New York is the BS spewing from the paper of record.
160 feet. And these same lying Commie bastards said that the Soviet threat and collusion was all a Red Scare (and they claim that 1984 is a warning tale about Reaganism).
I thought man made global warming was halted when we ran out of Oil and other fossil fuels 30 years ago??
