>>>Sounds like texting and driving to me...<<<

Since the guy was 87, I will take a chance and bet you are the only person in the world who came up with that conclusion.

With those Odds, you might want to pickup a Powerball Ticket.

Well, at 82, he is a little ways from 87, but my dad texts all the time. He is constantly joking with my kids and even posts to Instagram occasionally.

Sympathy to the families for their tragedies, but it sounds like the cops are trying to spin it in favor of her.

I agree. I’m not a fan of berman’s style of sport broadcasting. But he is a seemingly nice person and deserves dignified condolences at this awful time in his life.

>>>Troopers are investigating the possibility that Bertulis suffered a medical emergency right before Berman’s car crashed into the back of his car a state police source told the Hartford Courant<<<

Your comment: “Sounds like texting and driving to me”...

I owe you an Apology. I assumed you were referring to the 87 Year Old Guy. Quite the confusing response from the State Troopers unless the Old Guy slammed on his Brakes for no apparent reason.

It’s sad to see the way this thread is progressing. Do you all rule out the possibility that the old man suddenly decelerated and she couldn’t avoid him? That airbag deployment led to her death and her vehicle continuing on? Prayers for Berman and his family.

That is what I am thinking. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive, just bad luck.

Anytime another driver rear-ends a vehicle, the car behind is likely going to be at fault. As a driver, you are tasked with maintaining a safe distance in which you can stop, even if the car in front of you slams on the brakes.

Granted, there are always some reasonable extenuating circumstances, such as coming around a curve in the road, etc.

Well, it is all just speculation anyway. Prayers for them both. Nobody ever walks out the front door of their house to get in their car and says “Well, that’s the last time I am going to see this place...”

I try my best to take everyday as a gift and treat it as the last day of my life. Of course, it’s seemingly impossible at times, but this tragedy highlights that anyone’s time may come to a close.

My dad experienced a medical emergency once and fortunately I was following him. He was driving his pickup and pulling his 33 foot travel trailer and I was behind him in a large rented moving van traveling down the freeway He began to swerve slightly and then more so and eventually headed for the guardrail. When this happened, I moved over to straddle the centerline and block traffic from passing me. Eventually he was able to gain control and pull off the side of the road.

Had I not blocked the road then an accident could have vary likely occurred involving a car coming up from behind him at freeway speeds.

Exactly, shanover.

Exactly.

I love my hammock in my yard that my wife does a wonderful job on. Sometimes, I lay out there (as I did this past beautiful golden, sunny New England spring Sunday morning) and I see the grass, the birds, the clouds, and I think that if I am ever in a bad situation in the future, I will be able to draw something from appreciating that moment when I had it, and storing it.

I am trying to do that in as many areas of my life as I can. Because one never knows, when you go out the front door just as the sun comes up, that you are going to return there at the end of the day.

It is pretty much a guarantee that the sun rises or sets, but us with it...not so much.

I am so very sorry. My deepest condolences. It may seem a simple natural thing, but what a beautiful statement and tribute for you to say she is the love of your life.

May it be, that every spouse is so blessed with such a bond.
