My FIL is an architect whose firm designs schools for counties in metro Atlanta. However, he won’t work for Clayton or DeKalb county. Both are run by corrupt and incompetent politicians and employees.

My first thought upon seeing his photo.
The ugliest and worst county in Georgia is unquestionably Clayton County, where Trump got only 13.5% of the vote. 3 decades ago, it was a respectable Republican suburb that voted 73%(!) for Pres. Reagan in 1984 (even voting for him over Carter in 1980) and 65% for GHW Bush in 1988. It went from 45% for Bubba in 1992 to 85% for Zero in 2012.
That was my first thought, too, when I saw Georgia Girl 2’s response.
I wasn’t in the mood for enlightenment.
It’s sad. Long ago when people left the cities for the suburbs, they’d often discard their Democrat voting habits that left the cities in shambles... at least White residents. With Black residents leaving for the suburbs, they not only keep voting the same way that was responsible for urban chaos (high crime, plummeting property values, political corruption, high unemployment, et al), they double down on stupid. The net result is the White residents of those suburbs that maintained high standards are forced to flee en masse, as they watch the corrupt cities recreated again thanks to the terrible voting (and negative social) habits of the newcomers.
It used to be close-in suburban towns of some of these cities would negatively transform, but in GA, it’s ruining entire counties, Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Gwinnett, Henry, Cobb, Douglas, Rockdale, Newton... (with the exception of Fulton, the remainder would be unimaginable voting Democrat, especially heavily so, for President after the Carter era temporarily put the state back in the Dem column).
It’s had such a terrible impact statewide that a swing of 2 1/2% of the vote would’ve put the state into Hillary’s column. Absent sky-high %’s for Trump in rural/exurban White counties to offset the urban & suburban vote is the only thing keeping the state from disaster.
