Pure. Political. Swindle.
Shortly after Inauguration Day the USCIS Director said the program was continuing as before approving 140 new applications every day and renewing another 690 every day.
We’re over 10,000 new permits by now.

I remember how candidate Trump used to rally the crowds with his repeated promise to “Make the DACA Amnesty Permanent”.
Those were exciting times.
“Giving up and whining is for losers.”
And denial is for morons.
Trump was our last chance.
I will say, this is very well thought out analysis. You raise some good points I never even thought of.
But sadly it only proves the point America can not be made great again because Trump is a political unich and the American people will keep reelecring the Paul Ryans, Mitch McConnells, Nancy Pelosis and Chuck Schumers of the world.
It took generations for the political oligarchy to evolve and become established in this government. It would probably take a very long time of consistent assault upon them, or a very great cataclysm, to disestablish them.
I cant remember when Ive been this disappointed.
RIP, America. You were a great nation, though who knows if history will report it.
Have you forgotten TPP, have you heard about the numbers of illegals being kept out of the country, the supreme court justice he appointed? How about the pipelines being approved, the build up of the military? I sure there are many more things that he has done that we all like.
You whiners, are all great saying he should be fighting tooth and nail over every subject but he has to pick fights he can win, and put off things that he needs to.
Cry me river...
“I am so sick of you complainers.”
And I am so sick of people who can’t tell when they’ve been stabbed in the back.
Have you forgotten TPP, have you heard about the numbers of illegals being kept out of the country, the supreme court justice he appointed? How about the pipelines being approved, the build up of the military?
Without the wall, without mass deportations, without the (actual) repeal of socialized medicine, without tax cuts, all of that is just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
You whiners, are all great saying he should be fighting tooth and nail over every subject but he has to pick fights he can win, and put off things that he needs to.
Thats exactly the thinking that got us into this mess. At some point one either fights back or surrenders. For you, apparently, wanting to fight is “whining.”
People should be outraged that Trump signed this CR.
Trump’s been a fantastic president so far, perhaps one of the best in modern history. An extraordinary amount done in an extraordinary little amount of time.
This is the first disappointment of his administration. It probably won’t be the last. The man’s not perfect. Overall, we’ll love most of the stuff he does and probably hate a few things in between.
Whatever. It’s life.
I think it’s ridiculous to say that America or the overall Trump agenda of making America great again is “doomed” just because of a silly budget compromise. Come on, this country survived the Great Depression, WWII, Cold War, etc. A budget compromise isn’t going to do us in!
Hopefully, like some said, the REAL budget agenda will start in October.
Until then, let’s stop being drama queens because of unrealistically high expectations and be grateful for all the amazing things Trump HAS accomplished since January. We’ve already seen conservative reform greater than anything I ever expected to see in my lifetime!
“Trump is doing an amazing job advancing a conservative agenda given the opposition he is facing.”
This CR is a moral abomination. He signed it.
He has the ultimate say he is the leader of the Republican Party and can greatly influence legislation. He isn’t using the power of the camera in primetime addresses to make his case to the people. Reagan did this superbly and Trump can as well. He isn’t surrounded by the right advisers
I wouldn’t go that far. Far from the best. He’s done what people would expect and that’s sign EOs overturning what was done in the last Admin which is quite frankly the easiest job of a president. Other than that yes he’s taken it to the media and yes he’s made his case but legislatively he’s been quite frankly an abomination. Yes it takes two to tango and he has an awful Congress. However he MUST take his case in primetime television to the people otherwise he is a one termer. When I say primetime I’m saying no jokes, well scripted and conservative speech and explain why he wants to do what he is trying to do but has an unwilling Congress.
Reagan was extremely effective at the with a Democrat Congress and I know Trump can as well.
So what? It passed with a veto-proof majority. He needs Republican support for a budget showdown.
Of course, he is. That is how the Obamacare repeal and replace got done. He and the Freedom Caucus had to do mall the heavy lifting.
Come on, man. It's been three months. Reagan didn't even get his first legislation signed until August 13, 1981. And after that, it wasn't until September 1982 before he got any more accomplished.
The 80s all blend together in our memories, but the reality is that they were probably as slow-moving as they are today.
Be patient. I predict plenty of great legislative victories in the coming years. Trump is a master persuader and knows what he's doing (even if it doesn't always makes sense to us). That's what won him the victory in the first place!
He is up against THE NEW WORLD ORDER. Consider such a task for a moment. George Herbert Walker Bush let the world know what the goal of this government is.
“So what?”
So he should have made them override. He should have said “No, I do not assent to this. You will commit this evil without my approval.”
Instead, he said “Sure, go ahead and do all that stuff. Fine with me.”
What terrible advice he must be getting from beltway insiders.
Why? To make malcontents happy?
It's utterly moronic to waste political capital on a veto when he's trying to get health care reform and tax cuts passed.
