It needs to be an amendment.

Yes, we hoped, in the knowledge that if he were like all the rest, we were done.

Then, curl up in the fetal position and find another hobby. Giving up and whining is for losers.

Personally, I believe he's another ultra-liberal

You were and are wrong. Trump's gotten more of conservative agenda passed in less than four months than Reagan did when first was elected.

>Time will tell, but I think President Trump is planning on a well-orchestrated “shut-down” in October that will drive the Democrats and their media buddies crazy.

>IMHO, it will be THEIR “pet” programs will take the bulk of the spending cuts.

>Bye-bye to PBS, contributions to UN, foreign “aid’ to America-hating states, sugar subsidies etc. ad nauseam ...

Yep. Trump have to plan what to shutdown and what to keep going to maximum pressure and keep the public happy. He could start by telling the EPA guys to stay home.

This is not Trump’s first budget. This is a 4 month extension of a resolution that should have covered an entire fiscal year. I think the intent had been to give Hillary a quick money bill after her November win and democrat control of the Senate. She was to use it to fund the nation’s transition to single payer.

Yet, Trump true believers will go on and on how this is a brilliant, art of the deal like move by Trump.

We should have passed a line item veto years ago.

We did under Clinton and the Democrats took it to the Supreme Court..

Let's be honest, a full and permanent shutdown of the government is probably better than any possible legislation in the future.

The beast is huge, and a full shutdown for a year is probably just what is needed.

I'm a Trump supporter, and I don't think it's brilliant...doubt it could rise to brilliant even if it works out in the long run.

But I will say that I think it is necessary in the current condition of the Trump presidency. He is neither strong enough in the office or secure enough in it as yet to be able to survive a fight to the veritable political death with a Congress that despises his very existence. It's the same reason he backs away from a fight with the Judiciary over his executive orders. He is, politically, the weakest new president to come into the office in well more than a century. He has no political cache whatsoever with the political establishment that dominates every single aspect of the government except his office.

He is truly an island...but even more than that, he is intensely despised by the entire political structure, including HIS OWN party.

He needs to step very carefully, measuring his battles, and giving in at times until he can gather enough small victories to be able to leverage larger ones. He has to develop trust and gain popular support from those that did not support him before. Perhaps he even needs large foreign policy or military victories first. He was amazingly, unprecedentedly weak politically entering office. His situation is not that far removed from what faced Lincoln entering office. He's stepping very carefully and taking whatever small wins he can while giving the dominant establishment in tow.

We did and the SC ruled it unconstitutional.

Not true at all. That is why he has a staff of hundreds. If a president can’t multi task, he should not be there. Plus everyone knew the deadline of the CR was last week since election night.

Trump could have vetoed this debacle. He is without excuse.

What legislation has been passed that can’t be overturned with an executive order. I am waiting and it will take all night for you to spin this one.

Legislation allowing states to defund PP. Gee, that took me two seconds, not all night!

Stop blaming Trump because Republicans in Congress aren't giving legislation to sign.

What in hell are you expecting? The budget deal passed with a veto-proof majority. Trump is trying to work with Congress to get a repeal and replace bill on Obamacare and tax cuts. It would be stupid of him to poison the well to the point he can't get other legislation passed.

Trump, through combination of legislation and EO, has cuts billions of dollars of regulations andexpanded oil drilling and exploration. Legislation has been passed allowing states to defund PP and, in yesterday's House bill, to strip PP of Federal funding. Neil Gorsuch was nominated and confirmed to the Supreme Court.
