In our system of government, the government has no power that is not delegated to it by the people. If the people don’t have the right to own a particular weapon, say a M-14 or a hydrogen bomb, how can they delegate that right to the government?
Same as military? Not sure I agree with that. Same as the police, absolutely. Does my neighbor need a Howitzer? RGP?
County Sheriff: "Oh, hi, Mr. Drill! Hey, some good news and some bad news. The ravening Islamic hordes have crossed the border in force, pillaging and burning. We'll need your howitzer at the artillery park."
BtD: "Kewlz! Uh, wait...what's the bad news?"
County Sheriff: "Well, uh...look, I'm sorry, but you drew out Tuesday."
BtD: "Tuesday? TUESDAY? Aw, man, the good ones are all gonna be gone by Tuesday!"
County Sheriff: "Naw, we're imposing a strict bag limit. Now come on, it's free ammo and the Chamber of Commerce is throwing a barbecue in back. Can I pencil you in?"
BtD: (Sulking): "Yeah, well, OK, I'll be there. Tuesday. I never draw out the season opener..."
