The Handmaiden’s Tale: The Theocratic Patriarchy is Here

Deep inside the bowels of the Democratic Party there must be what an online friend “Miss Marple” calls the Department of Scary Stories. This mysterious department regularly turns out tales designed to frighten (often successfully) the more credulous. When Mitt Romney ran for president the most ludicrous of these was that he would ban tampons, a bit of nonsense that I saw was credited as the truth by many. These are the same people who cannot identify the photograph of a single political figure and would never pass a basic civics test, but they vote.

The current fabrication is that Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaiden’s Tale, now playing on Hulu, describes the U.S. under the Trump Administration. In Atwood’s Tale fundamentalist Christians force fallen women, forbidden to read or own property, to bear their children for the righteous infertile women and homosexuality is considered “gender treachery.”

To most of us it’s a weird tale perhaps appealing to that not small body of women who wish to avoid responsibility for their life choices, but to the left-wing press it’s “a timely warning.” Sarah Jones’ piece in the New Republic is typical.

(It’s illustrated, by the way with a drawing of Kellyanne Conway in Handmaiden garb just in case the connection was too subtle for readers or their too lazy to read the text, where the author compares her to the female collaborators in the Tale because she defends Trump “as a great boss.”)

Jones was hardly unique in drawing parallels from The Tale to the present.

I have no interest in reading the book but I did watch first three episodes. Creepy horror movie for sure. But was surprised, after all I heard it would be, that two points were made clear. This new regime was twisting the bible, taking things out of context. And they were shown demolishing traditional Christian churches. The main character was very aware of this.

Any thinking person watching this show and the brutality to women ,and any man that disagrees, will be reminded of only one religion. Muslim. right down to slavery and genital mutilation. Yeah a horror story for the screen but all to real.

But a lost person looking at this would see Christianity because that's what is being portrayed today. The left has glommed on to Islam because the Christians don't accept Allah as God. For whatever reason Christians are the "bad" people. A Christian would look at an atheist's portrayal of Christians and see the falsehoods plainly, but someone relying on what a Harvard professor might think Christ said or did with no Holy Spirit background might not.

I can't really blame them because many churches today are accepting a false gospel of abortions and sodomy. There is almost as much confusion in the church today as in pagan times. The thing that never changes is the idols we set up to throw our babies into the fire as with Molech and sodomy as in Sodom and Gomorrah and the Roman Empire. We carve out a piece of wood and bow down to almost anything this week and re-carve a chunk of it next week because our minds have changed about who God is. He has clearly stated who He is, but we refuse to agree with it. Sodomy and adultery are the same yesterday as they are today. The difference today is "Everybody does it", so God must be wrong.

Has anybody noticed that the future is always portrayed as a "dystopian" mess no matter what movie or book comes out? They write their fears down on a script, but have different reasons that we got that way. This one fears religion. The Walking Dead is fear of stupid government inventing a virus and it getting loose. Babylon AD was a similar view of false religion. They all have a lack of God as the central theme. If we know the lack of God will destroy the world, why won't we change?

Without a complete salvational faith, which is too much for some people’s prides, nothing really helpful happens.

And, sadly, I’ve poked that far and seen it. I’ve seen folks who crow that they know what Christian should be, scoff at the bible. Oh, no they don’t need salvation! Only the weak people do!

It is SMH.

The Handmaid’s Tale, if the report here is right, involves destruction of churches belonging to denominations that don’t agree.

Handmaiden’s Tale is a true story. It’s happening right now in ISIS town.

No Christian anywhere ever has done female circumcision.
