Yes, IMHO that is a good summary of the energy politics and pipeline part of this story. Its interesting they cite the Brookings Institute (a generally progressive/globalist think tank) showing how the Sunni Arabs and Saudis have been supporting ISIS. Its also interesting how these reports have already been removed from the Brookings website!
There’s a strategic interest in this as well. I am sure the US wants a Sunni- Saudi Puppet to take over in Syria, which would make it much easier to control. The Israelis would also welcome that too. That also means poking Russia in the eye and handing a loss to Putin, which has benefits in other efforts to contain and degrade Russia.
I will admit I do not understand all the angles, particularly with regards to Iran.
But we DO know - the terms “Arab Spring,” “overthrowing tyranny” and “chemical weapons” are all bullshit media narratives produced for the credulous.
