U.S. SANCTIONS ON RUSSIA WON’T BE LIFTED UNTIL CRIMEA IS RETURNED TO UKRAINE: REX TILLERSON

The United States will not lift sanctions on Russia until President Vladimir Putin hands Crimea back to Ukraine, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said late Sunday.

During a phone call with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Tillerson said the sanctions—which have crippled Russia’s economy and pushed down the value of the ruble—will “ remain in place until Russia returns control of the Crimean peninsula to Ukraine.”

He also said that Moscow must honor the ceasefire in eastern Ukraine that was outlined in the Minsk agreements, according to a State Department official.

I’m for Russia owning Crimea. I trust Russia over a lot of things including Turkey. I like Russia having a better position on Turkey should they act the way I think Turkey will be soon.

All one has to do is look at the map to figure that one out. You'd think even the EU and Eastern European countries would want that. What better way to protect Europe from being over-run by hordes from Turkey than having Russia defend that peninsula? The way things are going, if the EU had to do that, the EU army would be made up of hordes of Muslims from Turkey and elsewhere.

Do sanctions keep the Russian banking system out of the hands of the Rothschilds and other slimy European/globalist bankers? Why would that be a bad thing?

Crimea was a “ gift” from Russia to Ukraine 50 years ago
i do not think the Russian speaking people ever voted to become Ukrainian

Given that UKraine has cut off all services to Crimea ( including electric power which is now being provided by Russia) and given that the last popular referendum was a 97% vote to rejoin Russia ( so ok. Run it again under UN monitoring) we are looking at another stupid neocon red line and fruitless US policy

UKraine which is now battling another 1/:3 of its residents who speak Russian and who do not want to join the EU can’t even take care of its own citizens without western aid garnered by the “”threat “ from Russia most of which goes to corrupt politicians and arms dealers

Russia spilled blood for the Crimea. Khrushchev as a lark transferred the Crimea from Russia SSR to Ukraine SSR.

I really don’t think Russia will return Crimea to Ukraine. They may bargain with Donbas but not Crimea. Russia is $pending $5 Billion to bridge the Kerch Strait. Doubt if they plan on wasting that much $$. And Sevastopol is/has been critical to Russia.

Look at a map of eastern Ukraine And Crimea that shows oil and gas fields and pipeline routes
Then look at where the West is supporting claims by Ukraine for control
Surprise surprise

Down the road, there will be a deal and Crimea will be gifted to Russia....just like Russia gifted it to Ukraine and the huge Russian population where be where THEY want to be.

The present Ukraine government HATES Russia...even to the point that when Poreshenko took power, the first law passed said "no more Russian Language" anywhere in Ukraine. The law was killed the following day.

“Russia spilled blood for the Crimea.” True. Russia had to spill blood in order to deport so many out of Crimea. Ask the Tatars, they can tell you. The Ukrainians too.

Moving people to gulags is really hard work.

Thank goodness President Trump isn’t giving anything away for nothing. Russia’s little green men have spilled lots of blood in eastern Ukraine. The body count of civilian dead is way over 10,000 and counting.

So what should we surrender to Russia who has spilled so much blood on behalf of Putin now?

Good. It should give putin pause when he decides to illegal snatch another countries land and to support an undeclared war on a neighboring nation.

Based on the amount of blood Russia has shed throughout history to keep it’s warm water port on the black sea I doubt there is any seriousness of this being given any consideration by them.

In fact it will have the opposite outcome.

I thought the marvelous deal making Trump was going to work out a face saving win-win on this impasse by having Ukraine “ lease” the Crimea to Russia for the next 50 or 100 years

This kind of announcement is neocon policy CRAP
We need Russia as an ally against Islam and against China
We have more in common with Russia than either

Instead we are sublimating our military in the Middle East to serving Saudi Arabian and Israeli interests and in Asia, trying to be pals with the Chicoms who value human life maybe slightly more than does Planned Parenthood

I am losing faith in 4 d chess and thinking Trump is not draining the swamp but has been sucked into,it

The experts at State Department seem to have ignored the fact that access to the Black Sea and Crimea have been a nearly 400 year Russian project. Before that, it was the Ottoman Empire.

One has to ask - why exactly is Crimea a US priority now? What’s really behind it?
